Before this series, if you'd offered Oz being 100 behind India's first innings with 8 wickets left, we'd have bitten your arm off and assumed that we were 2-300

How expectations change

All the dead patches are bang on a good length on a right habders off stump. Starc around the wicket to them please.

India should consider letting Rahane open and bunt Mukund down the order. Rahane is a walking wicket against spin and might do something against the quick bowlers.

In other big sporting news, the blue and gold juggernaut has stirred in round one of the NRL this arvo.

If Australia manage to score at 2 rpo and win this test that would be the ultimate humiliation.

Can't even recollect the last time an Australian top order batted so slowly.

I know Australia figure it's only going to get harder to bat on and all, but they need to be pushing more than that... 1.8 an over after 50...really?

What's worrisome is that even when the Indian batsmen were batting slowly they constantly looked in trouble. Australia have been tied down but they don't look like getting out every second ball like India did.

It's very different but if they go to stumps 4/220 odd they won't be complaining

They really don't need to through. Not yet. If they pass India four down they can accelerate later

IDK, I just figure they're going to get one with their name on it sooner rather than later on this worn looking deck, so make hay while they're out there. Also puts a little pressure on bowlers not being able to dictate terms quite so much.

As much as I hate this pitch it's giving us some pretty entertaining cricket.
Massive props to the way the Aussies have batted. They've toughed it out. Have not let the attritional pace and pressure get to them.

Can't say I'm optimistic that we'll bat the same way. Australia less than 100 behind now, could very likely get a lead and then blow India out for less than 100 and win this 2-0 by day 3/early day 4
