If they were going to do this they should have just picked Jeets from the start of the series instead of Sodhi.
That would require some selectorial competence and consistency. I think we can now tell that left the building along with Bruce Edgar.

Sounds like nice bowling.

NZ are obsessed with trying periodically to recreate the great days of Dipak Patel opening the bowling and it looks like it's going to continue for another 30 years.

Yeah absolutely. I don't have any issue with the idea that Jeets might be a better ODI bowler than Sodhi, particularly if the focus is on the CT.. but if this is the case now it should've been the case for the last few months as well. Sodhi has actually bowled really well in all his limited overs internationals lately so it's harsh as **** to drop him now.

Yes, were they kinda hoping Sodhi would just bowl badling and they could drop him, or does Patel's selection arise from recent thought bubble because they hadn't thought things through in the first place? Neither is a very impressive approach.

Very much agree that Sodhi has bowled well. We are likely overestimating the importance of Jeets having prior experience in the UK too.

Jayzus, Bangladesh went home too soon. Think how much of a nightmare a fully fit Fizz would be on this track.

Great 25 from Duminy, only off 40 odd balls SR >50...
Yes another fine knock from Duminy.

South Africa's batsmen this series having a problem converting their starts - highest score 85 to ABDV and there's been lots of 30s, 40s, 50s ,60s that then leave the lower order a fair amount of work to do.

Welcome to 'ABDV and the tail rescue South Africa's innings' for the fourth time this series.

Unfortunately ABDV and the tail is still quite dangerous to NZ's chances.
