Dammit. NZ move to #3 ahead of India.

Not fully deserved of course, because they get full points for nearly losing to a Warner and Smith less Australia..

Played NZ. Was really hoping for 3-0 to offset what happened in Australia, but that was out of their control.

Jeez they made that hard for themselves at times though. Pleasing to see them landing some yorkers consistently at the end, but got to ask where have they been all this time?

So SA to number 1, Aust down to 2 & NZ sneak ahead of India to 3rd...

Great stuff from Boult it looks like to pull it out of the fire. I do worry though that his excellence in ODI cricket will lead to him being played more often than is ideal.

You sir, are a nob. If the opposition decide to disrespectfully decline to send their best team, they are the only ones who don't deserve it. Hopefully this kick up the ass will make them rethink that brilliant strategy next time. But I wouldn't count on it

my condolences to brendon julian for being an australian born in hamilton
Tauranga Boys alumni, about 15 years before Kane went through there.

IIRC he moved to Perth mid teens, he made the first XI at TBC in 3rd or 4th form before he left.

That was great. Two very fun and see-sawing ODIs potentially decided by some terrific fielding positions made in the crunch. Well done to Kaptain Kane and Boult.

Finch's dismissal was pretty poor from the "captain". Opened up the game for NZ and they took it.

Also how much longer are NZ going to persist with Munro? The guy clearly can't hack it against international quality bowling.

Yep, thought it was the decisive event in the game. It was almost like he let his ego take over due to almost being caught at deep mid-off previous ball and wanted to show everyone he was boss against a part-time spinner. But if he'd just stayed in Oz almost certainly would've seen this through.

Two concerns - our run production from 6 down (although I like Neesham there) and our 5th bowler. Sort those and we're looking really good.

A bowling Anderson mitigates most problems. Middle order runs, fifth bowler and death bowling.

Doesn't matter to the rankings. SA didn't get any less points from beating Aus 5-0 because they were playing a club-level bowling attack.

Still well played though. Even if Australia's whole team first XI players were rested it would still take some doing for NZ to beat an A-team. It's not like they don't deserve any credit.
