I think I'd stick with 3 quicks and just bowl Mahmadullah/Mominul more if Shakib needed a break.
Yeah this.

Wouldn't be against dropping Mahmadullah for Moses too.
Moses isn't in the squad unfortunately. Otherwise I'd be thinking about Mominul opening to avoid Soumya. Maybe they'll add him due to the injuries though.

Yeah Mominul opening isnt a bad idea. I would drop Mullah. Enough of him. The 'senior players are untouchable' culture needs to go. Mosa is a better bowler and a better bat probably too. Bring Nazmul Shanto at #3. Mustafiz if fit is an obvious choice in place of whoever.

Our bowlers are simply not good enough so they require a certain plan for every session. They need to be spoon fed. Heath Streak was successful because he used to plot plans for the bowlers and they just followed that. I dont think Walsh is a good choice for us. We need someone like Streak. Walsh has no idea what to do with these bowlers.

Brainless bowling from Bangladesh in the 4th innings i saw no negative bowling they where bowling like it was a one day match

I just remembered that bangladesh rested Mustafizur for the first test after playing him in the t20s. Yeah, **** them.

Old Timer NZ CricketWebbers should you point out any inadequacies in Williamson's captaincy, Taylor's batting or Soult's bowling.

KW's captaincy is fair game. No problem whatsoever with criticism of that.

I was referring more to stuff like...
Why on earth is Kane still compared to Kohl, Smith and Root.

A bit of a joke... QdK should be in that group ahead of Kane.

Massive difference in quality between those 3 and Kane.

Will Kane break Crowe's record this summer? Will Crowe's record even exist by the time he does, or will it be Taylors?

I think Taylor will squeak past Crowe's record but probably lose it midway next season to Williamson; be interesting though, Taylor hasn't looked as good as he has in the past few innings in quite some time, assured early at the crease which leads me to believe alongside the eye issue, he's been putting some hard yards in under Seddon Park Stadium to get the batting back together.

If Williamson has another couple of years like he did during the golden years of Baz (9 centuries in 2 years) he'll leave Taylor in his dust but for the past couple of seasons, he's not converted much.

Considering he bats 3 you'd say he has a better chance, and he went balls to the wall in this match but if we lose two early wickets and it was a race, I'd back Taylor to get there first because - unlike this time limited chase - Kane will probably look to score at 40-50 in a first team innings while Taylor will just gun it.

If he doesn't get run out by Kane, that is.

Regarding Mustafizur, even if he did play I'm not sure he would've made a *huge* difference to the attack, given that there was little to absolutely no seam movement off the pitch. Although, if he did play, would've he played ahead of one of the debutants or the widely chastised Kamrul? Kamrul ended up being their best seamer, really.

I agree with this & what's more I'm yet to see any evidence that Fizz is going to be a demon wicket taker in tests. His subtle variations of pace with little change to his action make him extremely effectively & hard to smash in the white ball forms, but I haven't seen enough to suggest he'll be a wicker-taken in Tests yet. He could be great, but there's an equal chance he could be like a Malinga, Narine or B Mendis, and only really carve it up in T20s and ODIs.

Bangladesh would take Test version of Malinga every day of the week. So would we.

That's not really the point I was making, but while we're on it, Boult, Southee & Wagner are all superior Test bowlers to Malinga, certainly in terms of their records anyway, so unless you mean as a 4th seamer who's not an allrounder, then I'm not sure he'd be knocking the NZ selection door down.
