7 coloured in the test team currently as Parnell counts (don't ask me how)
If you hear him talk you'll be under no illusion that he's coloured.

But coloured people have a large variety of skin colours and features. It's probably because they are so mixed. Their ancestors include black people, Malays, KhoiSan, white people etc.

So, Vernon Philander, Paul Adams, Herschelle Gibbs, Wayne Parnell, are all classified as coloured, even though they have a wide variety of skin colours.

Racial classification is dead, long live racial classification!

We've had entire threads devolve into **** and have had multiple people bang on and on about the Quota system here on this forum, yet clearly no one actually bothered to read up how they work.

Sigh.

Probably because for some of us they've seemingly changed the rules and the enforcement of this about 20 times in the last decade.

Yeah, I know. Let's hope sense prevails and Bavuma (on current form) drops out for AB.

But the loading of the T20 side is problematic in itself. We need to have X-number of black guys in the T20 side so that we can drop Bavuma. It's absurd.
What I meant is, could they not get away with sending out virtually a full team of colours and blacks in the T20 side, then allowing them to simply choose their best Test XI regardless?

In other words, sacrifice the T20 form to an extent, I mean who really cares about results in T20Is compared to Test matches anyway, this assuming they don't have to be evenly spread across the forms.

But it's still ridiculous.

I understand the need for change etc. but these hard quotas are pathetic.

Agree it's ridiculous, but if that's the requirement, why not go for the lesser of the 3 evils and compromise T20 success to ensure top ODI and Test sides? Assuming you could get away with the loophole.

That's the way I'd look at it If I was high up in SA cricket circles and I wanted them to be the best they could possibly be.

I'm still waiting for Zinzan to admit he was wrong and to apologise for being a prick about it btw
Why, when I was effectively right as Marius said, only that there is a technicality on the quotas between the various forms of cricket. That doesn't mean the idea that a black/coloured needs to be replaced by another is patently wrong, it's just a little more complex.

Mathews has bowled well all series idk why he's copping flack for bowling himself a lot
Because he is wasting the new ball and he has taken 2 wickets all series despite bowling 50 overs. He hasn't bowled particularly well unless economy rate = good bowling.

I haven't seen him all series but off what I have seen this test he is beating the bat and troubling them

Lack of wickets doesn't mean he's bowling poorly. A couple of those catch the edge or best the inside edge and suddenly his stats look great

And to make matters more complicated, Amla, Maharaj and Shamsi are Indian rather than coloured, although for transformation purposes they count as non-black players of colour.
