I think Ian Darke and Owen Hargreaves is just about the worst BT commentary team. Really bad.

I'd have to think about who the BBC's worst combo was, but it would certainly include Danny Murphy.

Derek Rae who does the Scottish games is much better than Ian Crocker on Sky. Sadly BT have taken to hiring complete bellends like Chris Sutton and Kris Boyd for 'analysis'.

As Cabinet said European Football show is the exception.

Mick McCarthy was the worst BBC commentator, although they've had Savage on too. I think as BT Sport guys go Savage<Owen<McManaman<Hargreaves. All have crap opinions and annoying voices, so it sort of comes down to how aggressively they state them. Not that Hargreaves isn't terrible, he has that Shane Warne habit of stating the same really basic opinion 30+ times a game. But he does have occasional snippets of knowledge about European football, whereas the others have no redeeming features at all.

The entire team is worse than Andy Townsend, which is pretty remarkable.

Haha I remember thinking during the Euros that Andy Towsend was actually perfectly fine, seemed strange after all those years of him doing England games. It was probably just because Lawro had been on commentary the same day and it was just nice to listen to someone who actually enjoys watching football.

I would hope with both football and cricket coverage that their long term plan is to poach some of the talent from Sky as they start winning more rights.

The European Football Show/Champions League Goal Show are the two best football shows on the box though, which makes their EPL coverage even more inexplicable.

Beating them would obviously be amazing but of the big teams they are the ones I wanted the least, played them a few years ago and I have been to Stamford Bridge plenty of times, Arsenal would have been way more fun. Still it is much better than Blackburn away or something.

Thought BT's cricket stuff was OK - reckon Vaughan and Swann are good in the "summing up" stuff. Or are they sorting out some commentary teams as well?
