Absolutely no requirement for him to do anything of that sort. He's partner is scoring runs at the other end. All he needs to do is play sensibly. On a pitch like this he is going too slowly for mine. Obviously if he ends today with a couple of hundred runs to his name he'll be vindicated, but he needs to be playing more positively.
See I've never cared that Lawry could be a little biased at times, because he's always appreciated good play from the opposition and more than that, he's Bill Lawry, the most exciting cricket commentator ever, & Nicholas is just a superficial ghastly ponce. If I was to rank the 9 commentary team it would go something like this:
1) Mark Taylor - probably the least biased of the lot
2) Bill Lawrie - was rabidly biased back in the day but has mellowed some what in his old age
3) Michael Clarke - fresh insight but probably will be corrupted in time
4) Michael Slater - Rising star in the traditional 9 commentating style
5) Shane Warne - has his comic moments
4) Mark Nicholas - there for the money me thinks
5) Ian Healy - biased as they come
Waqar is head and shoulders above the regulars but since he is a guest commentator I did not include him in the list.
huhuhuh 31 balls to get off the mark what a spudLast time I remember a "goddamn our opener is scoring too slowly, just get out already" conversation, it was Jaques vs SL in Hobart. Who promptly made 150 in a game where every run was needed.
Renshaw is fine.
I'm not suggesting he attempt to slog Wahab over mid-on, he just needs to get better at rotating the strike. It happened in the Boxing Day test as well, he seems pretty susceptible to getting bogged down.Absolutely no requirement for him to do anything of that sort. He's partner is scoring runs at the other end. All he needs to do is play sensibly.
This is Australia after all.man **** that booing.
And you are implying that it's insignificant? lolAbout 0.4 on matches played in the 90's, that's in Australia.
That is how many problems the Aussies have, that they have started to recruit Poms.Didn't realise Renshaw was born in Middlesbrough (just over 5 miles from where I live), anyway nothing wrong with his batting.
tbf the poms have to go somewhere when their side is full of South Africans, New Zealanders and god knows what elseThat is how many problems the Aussies have, that they have started to recruit Poms.
There he has got it.
I just look at the statistics and reported what they are, you read something into it that is not there. And you are implying that it's insignificant? lol
Thats like a 15-20% increase... which is almost like an extra day's of runs added to a 5 day match.. i.e. more or less 6 days of run-scoring in 5 days.. and in some other countries it's probably even worse.
Tests really need to be 400 overs and played over 4 days with the 5th being a reserve day. This would definitely help even up the contest between bat & bowl as they will have to prepare more sporting wickets to ensure results, which will take roads more or less out of the game.
