He still did a fair bit against South Africa when I was able to watch. Whether it's a particular tactic because of how the Pakistanis play him, as they took the mickey out of him in UAE, or just how his rhythm is or being coached, I guess we'll find out soon.Do Australia have a full-time spin bowling coach? I'll be honest, but Lyon doesn't seem to have a great cricketing brain. I remember he used to come around the wicket to the right-hander with some success (Ashes 13/14 and India at home) - has he abandoned that as I noticed he uses that much less frequency. Could Warne not work with him? Different roles obviously but Warne was such a smart bowler who could work batsman out.
This recent thought process of "everything is a road" when it's not an absolute greentop or dustbowl has to stopJokes aside, it was a pretty special performance from Australia. I don't think there is any other team in the world that can out-bat Australia on roads, and that's not a sleight on them either. I think if India dole out a few roads like they did vs England, Australia will capitalise. Warner especially. His game is not built around hanging about and reading the pitch, which is what I think England were guilty of. Good bowling, yes, but they were genuinely deceived about the pitches, didn't know a road when they were on one.
No, it really wasn't. There have been much roadier roads. Just because a pitch is good for batting doesn't make it a road.No this really was a road. It had a tiny bit with the new ball but really not much.
Hmmm....They havent won here but tbh this series could go either way because both sides are prone to crazy collapses and brain fades in between playing some good or very good cricket.
One Swallow doesn't make a summer as far as Australia is concerned, and Pakistan has bowlers capable of taking 20 wickets. I think Australia will win but I would be surprised if they sweep it or win with any measure of ease.
Burgey was just burgeyingHmmm....
The only way it could be more roady is if you were to tar it and park a few cars on the sideNo, it really wasn't. There have been much roadier roads. Just because a pitch is good for batting doesn't make it a road.
Having said that I realise the term "road" is by its nature imprecise and could mean different things to different people.
suffice it to say this was certainly not a road by my definition
Didn't Kumble take an absurd amount of 5 wicket hauls in that series?yeah it probably doesn't get talked about enough to be honest. it's a very impressive record in context.
He's got a long career ahead of him as a Bobble-head tbhI apologise for all the excessive anti-Lyon drivel. Malaria's a bitch and Lyon's head reminds me of a mosquito.
He'll do great as an actor on whatever alien documentary the History Channel is doing next. He's got a long career ahead of him as a Bobble-head tbh
