not nearly as much as the 2012-13 series in Oz where we absolutely dominated the 1st 2 tests, denied by rain and Faf, and ended up losing 1-0 in perth
Was that the series when the Aorta ruptured and basically hasn't bowled fast again since?

I wonder if it actually broke him from a pace pov. I know age is a factor but he used to bowl good wheels pretty consistently.

Yeah.. think Aus were beaten pretty comprehensively in 08.. 2012-13 was just an amazing and incredible series to watch/follow. Tiring the lead bowlers of the opposition out of the series has become a legitimate tactic for touring teams since then.
That was beautiful rope-a-dope stuff from SA in that series.

lol you're giving them way too much credit if you think that tiring the Australian bowlers out was in any way a deliberate tactic that series

It was simply an inevitable side effect of South Africa doing what they had to do to draw the Test in Adelaide, ie. bat forever

Also had Patto not broken down and/or Watson was playing I reckon it wouldn't have worked. South Africa are very good at deadbatting Tests but Australia only having 3 bowlers helped.

South Africa deserved the win in 2008, but we had a record score chased in the fourth innings in the 1st Test, and (all credit to South Africa) it took a ridiculous partnership (and amazing dropped catch) for South Africa to get into a position to win the Test.

I'm just not sure "comprehensive" is the way I'd describe it.

Whatever it takes!!!
Well, sure, there are always brilliant individual performances required in wins but come on, don't you think they won pretty easily in the end?

Sure, if the plan was to get bowled out for **** all in the first innings of the 3rd.

Luckily Australia's batsmen decided that was the perfect opportunity to pull out their once a series epically **** the bed performance.

Steyn's ball to dismiss Clarke, who was in incredible form back then, was the ball of the decade.

Well SA just won here in Perth in this series in exactly the same circumstance where Steyn broke down who is arguably their best bowler so no excuses there for aus.

Tbh quite a lot of it did have nothing to do with SA's bowling. Only one (maybe two) of those batsman can say they got done by a good cherry.
Thats crap, you could easily say aussie batsman collapsed the only time where there was a bit of help for the bowlers like the true ftbs they're after feasting on featherbeds in the first 2 tests.

This is a Bad argument

Of course going a full bowler down helped SA in that Test. Perth this year has nothing to do with that.
