I'm losing my sleep over the batting position of Shabbir snd Mullah. If Shabbir plays at 3 then Mullah HAS to play as finisher. But Mullah outside subcontinent is one of our key batsmen if not THE most key batsman so using him as finisher is not making sense to me in NZ esp anymore. I think Mullah has to bat at top 4 and send Shabbir lower down the order because I am not sure how well he'll cope with swinging conditions early on. We need to go back to last WC formula. Tamim and Imrul to open followed by Soumya at #3.

1. Tamim
2. Imrul
3. Soumya
4. Mullah
5. Shakib
6. Mushfiq
7. Shabbir
8. Miraz
9. Mashrafe
10. Taskin
11. Mustafiz
This Mullah being the so called finisher is the dumbest thing BD did..
after squandering the World T20 game against India,
and the 1st ODI against England
and dropping Ponting

Man the BCB aren't short of cash are they
Spending like $15,000 per month on Walsh iirc. Its huge in the context of our country. Also I dont think we need someone like Walsh. BD pacers need someone technical who will work with individuals hand by hand. I am not sure Walsh meeting the criteria. Time will tell.

I'd be surprised if New Zealand dominates Bangladesh in the ODI series. They may have 2 exceptionally limited overs bat in Guptill and Kane, but don't expect both of them to succeed in all the matches. The question is: Can the other New Zealand batsman step-up especially with Taylor missing? people are forgetting that Mustafizur can read batsman perfectly well, so Guptill and Kane need to be extra careful. Another great thing about Mustafizur is that even if he cannot pick up wickets, he creates pressure, and allows his bowling partner from the other end to pick them up. My XI for Bangladesh:

Tamim, Imrul, Sarker, Mahmudullah, Mushfiqur, Shakib, Shabbir, Mashrafe, Rubel, Taskin and Fizz.

My suggestions for you:

> take a breather
> come back after nz thrashing bd
> take a breather

Rain? Seriously? It's hardly rained in Whangarei all month, and it was fine when I left home this morning. Ugh.

Mortaza is suited to NZ conditions and is a decent limited overs operator, right? We struggle against left-arm spin, so Shakib is always in the game. And the Fizz - aka Kane's nemesis - is back, right? I dunno, it's not like the days when Khaled Mahmud used to run in and bowl 105km first change. I readily admit I don't know too much about them but based on results in the sub-continent they can clearly play, and it's not like it's a completely different sport when they come down here. Won't be cold and seamy like Pakistan got, and Sri Lanka the summer before.
They are a vastly improved ODI side no doubt but they not necessarily the modern LO team like NZ or Australia or England. The pitches in Mirpur are very different to the ODI pitches we have seen in England, South Africa and Australia and New Zealand recently where 350 is a fairly comfortable chase.

They have a successful template which works in Mirpur - bowl first, restrict teams to under 250 with the spin/Mustafiz choke hold and chase it down or score 270-300, and restrict teams to under 250 and win the game.

They don't have power hitters..in fact no SC team does today which is also why we see teams like India get smashed 1-4 in Australia recently. This is why I don't think they will be able to match the power hitting of NZ nor will the chokehold work.
