Exactly. Love hearing commentators talk like this. If their captain walked into Healy and Warne and said he was declaring to leave a side >2 days to score 450 they'd want him sacked.

Seriously, why would he do it? Could understand in a dead rubber if they can't lose a series, but if two blokes get going, Pakistan wins, Australia is 1-0 down having dominated most of the match and Smith would (rightly) lose his job.

What I have realized with Warne is that he usually throws in these scenarios when he gets bored of the cricket - which is pretty often because it's pretty clear he finds test cricket quite boring.

I don't actually believe Warne would do any of the stuff he wants captains to do if he were in a real match situation..he just likes to talk up these scenarios because he is bored.

It is clear that we don't have the depth that we had 15 years ago, but I'm sure you've read how Maddinson was selected more on a hunch. There are a reasonably high number of bats around the country with a better record.

I'm talking about FC legends like Love ( I think he got 1 test), Hodge, & Even Mike Hussey, who I think had scored over 20 FC tons and averaged 50+ before making his debut.

Definitely not the correct time for the declaration. We should have come in to bat 8-10 overs minimum, then had around 15 - 18 overs today.
