Whatever it takes!!!
Mate do you understand why they very rarely give close to ground catches by the third umpire?? Because a 2 dimensional image is so hard to tell.
I'd have no problem if the onfield decision was out and Root reviewed it.....because the video is INCONCLUSIVE. So when the on field decision is out then there is not enough evidence to overturn.
I get that but you saw the zoomed image, right? When they rolled it forward, you can see when the bat hits the ground. And the bigger spike grouping happens then and you can see it even on the freeze frame on the frame next to what was used to arrive at the decision, bat hits ground, spike is huge across the screen. One frame earlier, bat does not hit the ground yet, thin spike, can only be the inside edge. And come on, the seam rotation changed direction pretty clearly in the first spin visiion they showed. Even the crowd made noise seeing that. I understand it is the kind of decision that does rile up the fans of the team it goes against but honestly, you cannot blame the umpire. Oxenford even said why he feels there was no doubt to Erasmus there.
