Well played. Really has that South African steel to him this lad, very Graeme Smith like as someone pointed out.

Another one SA cricket allowed to slip through, looks better than Stephen Cook.

Whatever it takes!!!
Good knock from Jennings. Not always convincing but surely got the mental makeup of a good batsman. Not letting the tough stuff get to him and staying in his bubble and always looking at the best way to not just survive but score runs. Should be a good long term #3 for England. Given he bowls a bit too, surely England have found a good long term player.

Um, yeah, okay. But Robson, Compton, and others made tons before falling away.

What England have found here is a performance to win this test match though. That's what counts.

He's played well but his technique is one that can be exploited on pitches offering a bit more for the pacers. His attacking shots have been well thought out though, gotta give him credit for that.

Can we ease up on the Saffa thing? Yeah he's from there but his mum's from Sunderland. Clearly has links to both nations.

See, this is exactly the South African grit needed in the team.

More South Africans if you ask me, I love South Africa.

Why doesn't England just poach the franchises for more?

SA produce so much talent.
It's amazing, & If you limit it to white cricketers, there's only 4.5 million whites in South Africa, which is about the population of NZ, which makes it astonishing that they can keep producing all these top class cricketers at the drop of a hat.

Pretty sure we already have a long term #3.

Caught a couple of overs before leaving for work and Jennings appeared to be seeing it like a beach ball. Hearing positive things from other posters too. Shall make an effort to watch the highlights tonight.

KP's was from Liverpool, Trott's old man was English, could probably go on, it will make no difference to what people say.

Tom: "Makes it interesting for the selectors if Jennings has a good 2 tests and then Hameed comes back into the equation next year! Cook, Hameed and Jennings. 3 into 2 opening spots! Who do you go with?"
Drop Cook and make Root captain. Obviously.

Was gonna happen at some stage, at least we kept the run rate down and Bhuvi gives us extra batting depth. India's first innings is gonna be crucial, need a repeat of Rajkot.

I think it's actually a feather in the cap of English cricket that they seem to get the best out of some of these players who decided to give up on SA. I wouldn't necessarily view such comments as a negative thing at all.
