The Nathan Lyon Appreciation Page on FB is going gangbusters and is apparently attempting a world record "Nice Garrrrrrry" on Boxing Day at the MCG.

Johnson's 13-14 Ashes is the best fast bowling spell I've ever watched against England

I don't get too much time these days to watch much non-England cricket, hence my qualifier. But it's the best bowling I've ever seen. particularly Adelaide.

I actually expected a wicket every ball. Each Johnson delivery became like the last session of Cardiff 09, whereby each dot ball was to be celebrated as much as a century.

Well it's time for him to improve his performance in conditions that suit him. Last time Pakistan were here Hauritz took the most wickets with 18 @ 23.06. I'll look for Lyon to do well, we all know he can't be as bad as he was in UAE

Pretty much the same for me. I was lucky enough to be at all 5 days of that Adelaide test and it was nothing short of incredible........I've certainly never seen bowling like it.

Not a pleasant experience for an England fan, but you knew you were watching a special piece of history and something that will never be forgotten.

The first innings spell on that flat track when he reduced them from 115-3 or something to 170 all out was something spectacular. Broad, Anderson and co. were scared for their lives.

Yeah that was crazy. You don't see many stumps cartwheeling these days but I'd have expected it to then.

It was a bit unfair really wasn't it.

It'd be like if weldone started posted amusing, well thought out posts. None of us would have a clue what to say.

Again I'm going on record as saying that ball was a total fluke, hit an uneven spot or something. That said, was so quick and well-pitched it probably didn't matter....

It looked on replay like Cook missed a straight one on that occasion. Harris got him with an unplayable ball in another one of the matches. Swung in, hit a crack and seamed away.

I think it went away off the deck a bit. That and too quick, plus Cooky was a bit shot at that point tbf.

Moved away from the bat after tailing in a fraction to my eyes. The in-swing was what he was going for, personally.

Pretty much every single delivery like that which swings in and seams away is a fluke. No bowler ever knows with any degree of certainty which way it'll go after pitching.

Yeah but if you believe the comms gushing and all over him for the next few months, it was genius. Again, that said, shows you the real value of (ugh) good areas: even if it didn't move, was a decent knacker.

Apologies if I misunderstand, but that ball you describe was Steyn's stock delivery for more than a decade. I bet he easily got a 100 of his wickets with one that moves in through the air, pitches around offstump and then seams away to get the bowled, lbw or caught behind.

It totally detracts from the ball as well, it makes it look like Cook has made an absolute arse of the shot as opposed to it being a great ball from Johnson.

The problem with Wade becoming a meme/cult figure thing is that CA will now try to cash in on his "popularity" and he'll become a test match fixture for the next ****ing five years.

I'll **** bricks if he's our keeper on the SC. God that'd be dumb.

If CA really cares about that stuff then Ashton Agar has played twenty Tests by now.
