Actually not a bad innings from Kaneh in the end. You could say that he didn't score anywhere near quick enough to win the game, but the pace at which he would have had to go at in order to win would have been virtually impossible to maintain. He did what he could with what he had at the other end.

Legitimately a decent knock. Fair rubbish being posted in here.
Come off it; he didn't accelerate at all until it was a foregone conclusion we were losing the match. This was poor for the match situation and disputing that is pointless.

Yeah exactly. KW's innings was pretty much what we needed from him - it's the big hitters at the other end that we've lacked.

EDIT: replying to Athlai.

The love Kane gets is ridiculous, he can't do no wrong for Kiwi's.

This is a defeatist attitude around "Well let's make it close before we actually have a go" which is endemic in NZ cricket and needs to leave the game ASAP because ultimately if the guys continue thinking Neesham and Williamson batted well considering the match situation, we're going no where fast.

Average of 28 @ a SR of 75 after 39 games if you exclude Zimbabwe.... those numbers would be considered horrible stats for a batting A/R let alone a damn opener..
He averages 36.5 from 21 innings opening at a SR of 80 excluding Zimbabwe... He batted in some really weird scenarios at the start of his ODI career iirc

He and Neesham at 2 down for most of the innings did not seek to accelerate at all until there was nothing except "You must get two or more every single ball" left for the NZ batsman. That's not what we needed from him or Neesham, and being that he's the captain, it's extremely poor that they left this so late to push hard.

Yep. Some horrendous trolling rubbish going on this evening. They tried to lay a platform ala Smith and Warner, as that was the best way they saw of getting them close enough to charge. They just haven't been good enough.

Williamson and Santner both capable of striking at 120, but not really the type of players who will strike at 200. Needed one of the Colins to do that.
Agree, and it becomes difficult to fit both Santner and Watling into that lower order when neither are explosive either (unless Santner gets easy half volleys which, like a lot of tall left handers, he may hoist into the stands).

So what instead he should have made a run-a-ball 15 and then been caught at mid on?

You're expecting the impossible from him if you think he could have just gone out and made 150 off 90 balls without getting out like 12 times in the process
