Blah could've got a nice not out to pump up that average.
Yeah, definitely. Should've got 400+ batting first on this track. Also should've bowled us out for a much smaller total after we were 200/6This test, it was just general stupidity that cost you. This squad should and could have batted better.
He does though. He suits a 5 batsman approach better. Saha can come in when they pick Rohit at 6.Well batted but he has no place in the team once the others are fit.
Pant is a kid though. Let him play two more years of FC.Lets dial it back a bit. He should be an emergency measure. This innings is good but lets not kid ourselves. Pant should pip him next time.
DammitHope Pujara gets some red-ink here, he's been a rock for us in these tricky home chases ever since his debut match. Also the 4th game against Australia on a Delhi minefield, and a couple more 50-60 type chases against Australia and England around then. Always seems to get out after doing all the hard work.
He has taken 5 times the amount of wickets that Howe predicted he would before the series beganRashid proving his worth as the premier spinner over the last 3 tests.
We seem to have average test openers at the moment because everyone is batting too cautiously on pitches that are flat. Anyone can do what Patel did today if they were told to score quick. Take this knock with a grain of salt. And Pant should obviously not be fast tracked to the test side. Instead, play him in ODIs to see if he has the potential and slowly get him to open in tests. He does though. He suits a 5 batsman approach better. Saha can come in when they pick Rohit at 6.

He's dropped 4 catches ffs. He's done fine with the bat but one good innings doesn't mean he's pole vaulted over Saha, Rahul, and Dhawan in the pecking order. He does though. He suits a 5 batsman approach better. Saha can come in when they pick Rohit at 6.

I said the same thing but too many of the England fans here share Cooks approach to the game. It's not often you get a chance to win a test in India and when you do should take it. A moral win is useless.Seriously pathetic from England yet again and they will rue they day they tried to dig in last test. Cook was already regretting it in the interviews that followed, plus they played negatively at the tailend of the first match, the only one they looked like they could win.
I feel Cook's tactics are often too defensive, even in a healthy position and his time may be up.
Wouldn't be against all that and if it a raging turner we would have Borthwick and Root as part time options if Moeen or Rashid have a bad day.I think we should just break convention and call up Hildreth, Clarke and Borthwick. Clarke to get around the squad and have a look at him in nets, Hildreth for middle order, and Borthwick to bat no.3 if Hameed is injured. So something like this for the next test match.
Cook
Hameed
Root
Hildreth
Stokes
Bairstow
Moeen
Woakes
Rashid
Broad
Anderson
Root up to open if Hameed isn't fit for the next test with Borthwick in at no.3.
