tbh with conditions out there, that's exactly what the greats should be looking to do.

Both of these guys have no reason not to score tons here, the conditions are some of the best they'll have batting in NZ.
Regardless...suggesting it's a formality that someone on 20 is going to ton up on day 4 of a Test is garbage commentary.

And it's not like Smithy hasn't done this schtick before. Who remember the days Vettori would take an early wicket, only to hear Smithy suddenly predict he's going to pick up a 7-fer.

Well, if either of them gets out in their usual fashion, gifting a wicket to the opposition - they deserve a severe bollocking for not putting the foot in while we've got the opponents down.

Amir well within his rights to butcher his slips cordon in their sleep - unbelievable how many chances he generates that they drop.

When do we think about declaring? Might be better for us overall if Pakistan bowl us out. Suspect we'll bat till the end of the day setting 400 or so.

I don't see why we wouldn't bat at least half way into the tea session at the very least, if not to the end of the day.

Why? He's got a really good ball there. Hasn't made a mistake and played a loose shot, just got one on a good length that seamed away. It happens.
It's poor in the sense that he again made the mistake that got him in the first innings, he saw it early, played way too early and pushed out at one he should have let come to him. It's something he was doing brilliantly in England, letting the ball come to him under his eyes before making his stroke, here, two dismissals in a row come from him pushing down the line early at one and not adjusting his stroke.

First innings, sure he pushed out at it. This one he didn't - had to play that line, and it was just full enough that he couldn't adjust to the movement. Being way too harsh criticising someone for getting out to that.

The fact that he squared up his stance shows how early he was on that ball, it was a great ball, came towards him and seamed away, but it's the type of thing he used to be a master of soft handing down to the ground via gully. At the moment he's lost that in his game and he's getting out repeatedly in this fashion.

Don't worry guys, the answer to our middle order problem has been found:

Hamish Marshall would be a good alternative for Taylor with his eye injury. He has done the Glen Turner and played county cricket for a number of years and his since returned to Wellington. He has a healthy test average of close to 40.
Thanks Gaz Williams.

Being a bit harsh there. Generally once KW gets into 20-30 odd relatively untroubled, he SHOULD go on, thats just cause of the standards set by the man himself. Also, what does Day 4 have anything to do with it? The track is the flattest its been all test and the bowling has been good-consistent but not overly great or highly threatening.

Alas, hopefully Latham can continue on, cause he really need to capitalise off these starts and contributions and needs to start setting matches up.
