***Official*** Pakistan in New Zealand 2016/17

So Pakistan need to bowl us out for another 60-80 runs to give themselves an outside chance of winning the match. Not impossibly given our middle and lower order, though Latham and Williamson have gone a long way to making the game safe.

Disappointing that Latham failed to make a hundred, again.
It's on Taylor as the senior pro here to bat us through to something over 300.

I too would be ok with moving on to someone else for the Bangladesh series if Nicholls doesn't make a score here.

I don't get all the complaining, NZ look to be in a really solid position. Nice to see Taylor making some runs again, and Latham getting his customary half-century. Nothing he could have done about his dismissal in this case, brute of a delivery from Riaz.

NZ Fatalist disorder, constantly believe that if Williamson fails, the team fails, despite recently Williamson being mildly disappointing in India, SA and here.

Weirdest thing about Nicholls imo is that he initially came in as a limited overs player and even picked up a couple of Big Bash matches. Very limited, rarely hits the ball cleanly, doesn't have a lot of shots, though leaves and defends reasonably well. If he's to have any international success I have a hard time seeing it being any other than as a grafting accumulator, not a limited overs player.

Haha, and just as I say that he gets out the shovel pull for six (maybe).

Pakistan ain't chasing anything above 300. NZ need to bat normally for another 30 overs, which would get them to ~330 or so, and stick them in.

Would much rather see a CDG Eden Park Outer Oval style domination. That would be extremely entertaining, instead of the 200 balls required for Nicholls to scratch and edge his way to a tonne.

Taylor double and Nicholls maiden ton would be sublime.
there is no need for declaration because we all know Pakistan will not get to 200 let alone 350 odd that they will be chasing. So its better for NZ to just bat and bat and Taylor making doubles, Nicholls hundreds, BJ hundreds and finally we can salivate on Southee and Henry trying to out trolling each. A draw would also mean NZ winning the series so its a win-win situation.

Winning 2-0 moves us up the Test rankings further.

This would be the way of thinking 10 years ago where series were all that were calculated, but if we want to boost our rankings then we need to win every test we can.
