Pitch still looks pretty good. Won't be surprised if England score above 300 in their second innings. Or with India chasing it down tbh.

I don't remember but have teams tried the off side heavy field settings for players like Hayden who can walk down/across and play to the leg side? I remember Laxman flicking balls from outside the off stump to the leg side boundary a few times, but would this tactic work against batsmen who have the option of advancing down the pitch?

So it's probably going to come down to how well we use the new ball first thing tomorrow. If India are still batting at lunch, we're in major trouble.

Good effort after tea though, even allowing for the frustrating last 45 minutes or so.

Whatever it takes!!!
Holy ****. You move away for 15 minutes...
Exactly what I felt.. When I was watching today, only 2 wickets fell. Stepped away for the first 20 mins of the post tea session and then again the over that Kohli got out, and everything goes pear shaped. :( Gonna have to suck at work and hotstar it all day tomm. :(

Suck **** Kohli
Real indication that Kohli has reached the rarified cricketing Greats/Gods level now that GIMH has started to insult him randomly. He usually reserves it for the very best. :p

Nair was backing up way too far as well. Both were equally responsible for that one.
Also, Nair does not seem very athletic at all for a youngster. Reminds me of a young Gambhir. Pretty useless in the field and could have easily saved himself with a dive there. Sometimes not seeing such desperation rankles. :(

England will most likely take a big lead tomm and bowl us out for nothing.. Early morning + Anderson, Woakes + two men who dont really have a good defence and not very good against swing = disaster for us, I am afraid. :(

Batty bowled 5 over for 29 then. May as well have picked another batsman.
That probably makes it 4 players in the squad who shouldn't be selected under any circumstances whatsoever for the remainder of the series.

It'll be tough picking a side if we have an injury or two.

Disgusts me to suggest this, but Rohit might be a better choice than Jinks on Indian pitches only when the opposition has decent spinners. Has better numbers to back it up too.

Lol i remember having the fear during the Lanka series that if Pujara didn't get a chance, he may be out for a long long time as it will be difficult to dislodge Rohit once he gets to India. But as of now he is injured anyway. Lets see if Karun is any good.

What numbers? The only series rohit has done well in, apart from that debut series, is the one vs nz in which Rahane scored tons of runs too.

 fair one. I guess he might have an opportunity to bowl in the last innings with India chasing a target, if Cook trusts him.
Yeah, shocking as Batty was today, I'd back him to bowl well during this game, whereas if it'd been Ansari, I'd have still been disappointed, but hardly surprised.

Even so, unless he bowls exceptionally well later in the game, I'd still swap him for Broad next game (assuming Broad's foot is ok). I was all in favour of his coming back this game given the situation we were in but someone has to make way for Broad when he's fit.

Rahane's not having problems only against Spin though. He also had a dismissal where he had a disgusting poke at an Anderson ball on off stump. He's just going through a rut imo.
