Renshaw's looked a bit disappointingly ordinary IMO

A lot of play and misses and defense looks a bit loose
He is up against 3 Test bowlers who average under 23, and is only 20 years of age so while obviously he hasn't look amazing, there have been some positives. That 0-14 from 12 overs on Day 1 was huge for a team who had just lost 8 wickets in under 20 overs and 10 wickets in under 33 overs last Test.

Yeah he's very raw and will likely be replaced for a couple of years by Marsh but he has showed good potential.

He just looks to me like he's going to knick out a lot, especially in helpful conditions

Peter Nevill would be a good specialist opening bat for Aus in Tests IMO. It would suit him a lot more than batting at 7

Are you really advocating Nevill, who couldn't average more than 22 in all of his tests to date, coming into the side to be a specialist opening bat? Khawaja moving up would be more likely, surely... in which case you could also move Smith to 3 and make it easier on yourselves finding a middle order player instead of top order.

As opposed to the rest of the Aus team.
Yup; Aussie needs to go back to it's tried and true formula of it's best next contenders going over to county cricket and learning to play in those conditions, because they're absolutely horrible at the moment against the moving ball.

I thought it was plumb . . .

One thing about his play and misses is he does not follow the ball... he plays a line and if it swings or seams so be it, mostly batsmen nick because they then follow the ball.
which is fine if the ball moves enough to miss the edge.

Good observation though

His biggest issue is he plants the front foot (an Aus player problem)... going to give him problems playing around the pads .

Warner, run out, soft again....Lol

Good on Renshaw to not allow himself to be sold down the river by that piece of idiotic running.

More time for David to watch cardoons and think about his next book.
