It's going to be interesting who they would add.

If you look at the history of the Currie Cup : Transvaal, Natal, Rhodesia, WP, EP were the only teams in the top division from WW2 until the 80s because the 2nd division consisted of 'B' teams initially from Transvaal and Natal and then latter the other 3 added 'B' teams who played against NE Transvaal, Orange Free State, Border and Griqualand West. Only in the 80s when Rhodesia left did NE Transvaal come back into the top division , then OFS, then Border and then Griqualand West.

So if you go on history Border and Griqualand West (now Northern Cape) could get the extra two spots if they went that route. But there is the talk for North West and their facilities.

Then there is also the debate that all unions want to come in. Newly formed SWD may want a spot and KZN cricket has two teams and Inland has been winning competitions. Lots of complex matters.
I like the idea of Border and Northern Cape, personally... these things always turn into complex political/admin matters which will never make everybody happy. Its also about money (hence the politics/admin), professional players are normally willing to move provided they can get a good contract; no point starting a new franchise and then leaving them with nothing to play with...

Not sure about Border.

Anything east of PE in the Eastern Cape turns to garbage generally.

Northern Cape and North West could work.

Easterns should probably also not be discounted - they did do all right in the early 2000s with fairly limited resources.

And nothing to do with the fact that I'm from the East Rand.

That is for sure.

I think quite a few of the smaller provinces will all have something to say to their advantage on why they should get it. Imentioned some above and forgot Boland...

Omar Henry will wax lyrical about the beauty of Boland Park and it's surrounds and the fact they will produce players of colour like himself, Ontong, Henry Williams, Telemachus , Langeveldt and even the lighter complexion like Stiaan van Zyl and Claude Henderson. He will probably add Stellenbosch university as a hub for young talent.

Easterns well Willowmoore Park....sorry Marius.

They did have some great years though with Ray Jennings in charge. Zander de Bruyn, Dereck Crookes, Albie Morkel, Andre Nel, Pierre de Bruyn, Andrew Hall. That was a cricket team fighting tooth and nail to win the Super Sport series against all odds. Probably the best thing to come out of Benoni with Charlize Theron

Some say the best thing to come out of Benoni is the N12 highway.

The Border vote will be because of the area and black African but KZN having two teams would have more weight as they are producing more black African players than anybody else in recent times for SA u19 sides for example.

Don't discount SWD though. They are a newbie but making huge waves with the money they pumping in, into the region. They just hosted the Africa T20 finals day. They also bought nearly R 200k worth of cricket pitch covers from my company I work at.

And most of the SWD guys will be POCs I assume (more coloureds than blacks but still).

I actually went to go watch some of that game.
I remember watching it on tv and with that start there was only one winner and then little Pierre de Bruyn did it again. He always produced against WP. Got a coaching job at Leicestershire now after his success at Tuks.

Really enjoyed those 4-day finals but then they decided to scrap them because in the next two finals teams were playing for draws I think. It is understandable but would certainly bring a bit of excitement having a 4-day final back for TV coverage.

Good to see that Markram got into the team on Friday... hopefully they pick him for today as well.

Terrible game currently in progress on Sky Sports 2. Knights are 60 odd for 6 after 12 and batting on show has been horrendous. The amount of good innings played in this 20/20 comp you can count on one hand. Hopefully the standard will improve once the national players comeback as this isn’t a good product.

I`m surprised they picked the St Georges park game to show, always a slow surface that is not conducive to good T20.... the other game not on TV in Durban looks much better. Albie Morkel and Behardien going great guns.....

Markram not playing for the Titans though...

Knights in 20/20 action tonight against the Lions and de Lange and Olivier are opening the bowling against Namibia in a 3-day game. What's going on?

Good final yesterday and looked to be well attended. Titans deserved winners, been the best team throughout the tournament and had more than enough on show to win most of their games without Shamsi and the other national players. Ngidi very impressive again yesterday. Wouldn't be surprised if he played some part of the limited overs series against Sri Lanka.

What is the status of Kolpak when the Poms leave the European Union
