South African Domestic Season 2016/17

Is the standard of fielding in s.a dropping, seems to be lots of catches going down this year. Along with Australia they were always the best fielders

Fielding quality has gone down over the last years in SA. Not quite sure why... SA team is still pretty good.

It certainly has.

We lucky that we have AB, Faf, JP, Rossouw, Bavuma, Miller in the international set-up. Those are our best 6 in terms of in the right. I think Amla &Elgar are genuinely pretty decent in the slips.

Domestically we have turned average but I do think in general fielding has gone down a bit. The fancy T20 catches looks all nice and stuff but cutting out the simple mistakes to me is the bare minimum a top class fielder should look to do.

Out of the youth , Markram is our best fielder although de Bruyn isn't too bad in the slips but too far and between are the good to top class fielders in our domestic scene these days. I remember how hard a Miller worked on his fielding as a youngster, basically said that is what makes him an 'all-rounder' in his eyes in that he can contribute in the field and he really is up there world cricket. From an SA perspective I don't think I've seen anyone hit the stumps more often than he does.

How fast is this guy bowling? Been hearing a lot bout him but I've never got the chance to see him bowl.
Max 141 kph last night I think I saw. Probably at 20 years of age will still get stronger to bowl longer spells at sustained speed but really encouraging. Junior Dala also gets it through at over 140 in last nights game on tv.

In pretty **** news, Phehlukwayo is out of the rest of the T20 tournament and had surgery on his groin after the ball got smashed into it.

Was actually trying to think who is the quickest for each franchise ?

COBRAS

Parnell (138-143)
Paterson (130-137)
B.Hendricks (132-139)
R.Kleinveldt (130-138)

WARRIORS

Magala (135-142?)
Birch (125-130)
Walters (130-138)

DOLPHINS

Engelbrecht (135+) reason I say that because he can get into 140s comfortably but his lack of repeatable action lead to injuries so need to see him again ?
Dupavillon (136-140) (could be quicker now)
Shezi (125-130)
Alexander (130-135)
Phehlukwayo (130-137)

KNIGHTS

De Lange (140-150)
Olivier (140-145)

LIONS

Viljoen (140-150)
Pretorius (125-134)
Mulder (130-135)

TITANS

Morris (140-145)
Dala (138-143)
Ngidi (136-141)
Siboto (128-132)

First Brexit, then Trump, what more can go wrong this year?

Cobras loan Ramela to Highveld Lions | Sport24

But in all seriousness, I wonder how much this has to do with tensions between Adams and Ramela?

Ramela is also a Joburg boy so it won't be a massive adjustment for him.
What did the Lions do to anybody?? At least he did not come to the Warriors! Can`t believe that this has nothing to do with the issues at the Cobras... wasn`t Ramela captain till recently?

Poor guy. :(

I'm sure his first post-surgery w@nk will feel great though.

FFS, hope it's not.

He was also one of the leaders of that 'Black Cricketers in Unity' thing that came out last year.

Think he's a stirrer.
He is a home-boy

I had no idea about that. Certainly sounds like it.

Thought that was Tsolekile, Zondo, Phangiso etc
