Late to the party on this, but Craig was by far the best spinner in the first test. He bowled with alot more control than I'd seen in the past and had reduced the 1 bad ball per over to 1 every 4-5 overs where as Sodhi and Santner were still bowling one every over.

I still think Santner is probably number 1 choice as #8. But Craig should definitely get the look in once fit, especially with vital batting contributions. Patel did bowl pretty well in the other two test but at age 36 as opposed to Craig being 29 I think Craig's best is still yet to come, considering the improvement we've seen.
Vehemently disagree that Craig was the best spinner in the first test. He bowled a flat, negative, unthreatening line and hence didn't go for runs. Santner was quite comfortably better. Jeetan was perfectly fine in the series as well.

Craig is utter shite, guys, it's OK to admit it.

Getting excited for this. Witnessed 3 exciting test matches over the last few days and Pakistan are yet to play. Start the first test already

Agree to disagree I guess, was the only spinner that got decent drift and troubled Kohli and Rahane constantly.

Amir was great to watch in 2009 tour though he didn't pick many wickets, let's hope he repeats some of that stuff.

Pakistan coming off from a pretty average series against WI and you would have expected them to completely thrash WI in UAE. Can't say right away that Pakistan is favorite. It's 50-50 depending upon a lot of things. Nawaz is not good enough to play as all rounder and his bowling might not be that effective here. Imran Khan is unlucky to sit out for Sohail Khan/Rahat for a long time now and should play right away. Sharjeel's inclusion is a bit surprising and probably will sit out for the tour.

1. Azhar Ali
2. Sami Aslam
3. Shafiq
4. Younus
5. Misbah
6. Babar Azam
7. Sharfaraz
8. Wahab
9. Amir
10. Yasir Shah
11. Imran Khan

I hope Pakistan will give Sami Aslam a full extended run including full series against Australia. This guy has some potential from what I've seen so far. If he does not perform well against NZ but you still have to back him and changing and chopping esp the openers is the norm for Pakistan team. That's why I am afraid a bit.

Is it because of his poor fitness? Look I don't deny that but the guy is a skilled bowler. He can move both the old and the new ball and was Pakistan's best new ball seam bowler in England in terms of wicket taking ability. He lacks the consistency due to his fitness and errs in length but he was moving the new ball in conditions where Amir did not, with all his consistency and control.

That being said, I really like Imran too and he has the right skills, but Sohail is a more experienced bowler and has the knack to pick up wickets.

Poor fitness combined with poor fielding and body language. He goes missing more than half of the game. I think his two 5 fers does not reflect his performance. He bowled poorly in the 4th test and at the end managed to pick up few last wickets making into 5 fer iirc.

The fact he has to be stretchered off the field for an hour after each spell isn't a great look, must admit.
