Vogues: - Bradman against NZ and WI, awful against good teams. Sorry Adam, you are the weakest link. Playing him in Adelaide would be criminal.
Boo-urns: - Seemingly suffering the same problem as Voges, but he's young and worth giving at least Adelaide seeing as Marsh is unavailable.
Fungus: - Deserved his selection based on his numbers in the last three seasons. Should get the summer and probably India unless he's absolutely dire. Far too soon to make a negative call on him.
Mennie: - Pointless selection. The only thing worse than selecting him would be to persist with him (or replace him with Scott Boland). So nothing he doesn't even deserve a play on his name.
Lyno: - Love him. Play for NSW and get yourself right for India (or Sydney if it's still a dustbowl come January)
Nev: - Safe for now, but FFS Nev start batting like we know you can.
So for me that's 3 new guys for Adelaide, perhaps a 4th for Brisbane and a couple more opportunities for India if **** doesn't get sorted.
Patterson is surely the right answer to replace Voges. Apart from Lehmann all the other options are averaging sub 40 and for good reason. His 15/16 was incredibly solid and mature where he took on the no.3 spot and flourished. The only thing the season lacked was a really huge ton.
SOK for Lyon should be a no brainer. (so they'll go for Holland)
The third quick is a little more interesting. The selector's picked the third best quick in SA for this test so perhaps going for the best in The Chadd on his home ground with a hooping pink pill would be a better bet. Or just go to Bird, Personally I'd like to see The Dorff have a crack. Good pace, tall, can swing it, young. I don't accept the 'you can't play two left arm quicks' nonsense. Bringing Behrendorff on now hopefully adds a 5th prong to the Starceh, Haze, Patto, Cummo attack that should be the backbone of our attack for the next 5 years or so.
Smarsh should be back for Brisbane and replaces Burns if he doesn't perform next test. Otherwise he returns to his ready reserve position to score another ton on recall when injury demands.
Victoria need to be told that Maxxy is to bat no lower than 4 with the intent of making him get his head around the idea of being a top order bat who bowls a bit. He really needs to be developed up as our best No. 6 option (higher if form warrants). Mad Dog is a similar proposition in that he can score quickly and provide handy overs, but is just too hit and miss.Still young, but needs to pull it back to cash in more consistently.
Lehmann also needs to move up to 4 at least and prove he's a top order bat. Has the tools, would be looking at him as a serious option next summer.
There is no obvious replacement keeper atm. Wade would come in if there was an injury, but I don't think he's a realistic long term option.
