What's with the ****** domestic team names? Christ, it makes Birmingham Bears seem almost reasonable.

That's franchise cricket and sponsorship for you. I always think of them as their province names from yester-year in any case.

Big news that Piedt has been left out and Maharaj and Shamsi are both in.
Rossouw reserve batsman.
Vilas reserve keeper.
Was just about to post this.

Decent squad overall but I'm surprised they've dropped Piedt, hasn't done much wrong I don't think.

You watch Piedt and you like what he does but some of his performances you just look and think what happened there ?

I think they definitely went for players in form like Maharaj/Shamsi/Rossouw and Duminy does provide the right-arm off-spin option.

Maharaj is accurate and has a nice simple approach to the wicket. His stock-ball is quicker than usual but he can get the ball to bite and can slow it up a little in the air as nice variation. I think his batting is another bonus. Interesting who is ahead of who if they went for a spinner tomorrow v Shamsi.

EDIT : Marius - funny we posted at the same time. Can only think that's the reason they left out Piedt.

Excellent squad... pretty much what we thought it would be. Surprised about Piedt but happy with the decision. Shamsi and Maharaj add a bit of x-factor that Piedt lacks..... That bowling line-up looks impressive.

Oh and do the Warriors not have a sponsor at the moment... :)

It does look harsh on Piedt though because I do like him. Maharaj is similar to Piedt in that they both orthodox but perhaps the variation (with the squad) was what they wanted and with his form - they felt they had to make the move.

Yeah - Chevrolet no longer

Also Maharaj is a better batsmen than Piedt, right? Piedt has not been quite the same since injury.... tough on him but I like the forward looking approach as well, not just sticking with a player because he is the incumbent....

What happened to Simon Harmer ?

So ****ing happy with Abbot's performance. Guy has always been hard done by through injury or other reasons and never gets a consistent run in the side.

Wow this is harsh on Piedt. I thought he had settled into the lead spinner in the test side.
Very tough on Piedt... but think it might be the correct long-term decision.

Abbot is very unfortunate to be a Saffer I think he would make most other test/ODI teams in the world. But with the rise of Rabada he has dropped to fifth choice.

He should be the first choice seamer in the ODI team, no questions asked. This is going to sound harsh but he is a better LO bowler than Steyn at the moment.

Not sure if it's a good idea to go into Australia with debutant spinners. Piedt is not necessarily a veteran but at least he has played test cricket for almost a year.

Probably... but it is tough on Steyn, as statically he was actually the best SA fast bowler in LO... now? I don`t think Steyn gets used properly, he needs to bowl 7 overs up front, not be bowling at the back end....

Maharaj is practically an all-rounder so gives batting depth ... Shamsi is left-arm wrist spin, he gets 3 wickets just by being on the park against Aus

Just going off his stats Morkel's a very good LO bowler, can't recall much about how he usually goes though.

Personally I'm happy with the decision.

Suppose with Smith,Voges,Marsh,Nevill middle order it looks like the right decision. Their decision seems to be horses-for-courses and taking the ball away from right-handers.
