Santner was easily better in terms of control and not giving away runs, and Sodhi was easily more dangerous inspite of the odd bad ball. Craig looked more like bowling good control spells a la Santner while giving away the odd easy boundary ball a la Sodhi. He was neither here nor there last test. I do think it is a blessing in disguise for NZ that he is injured. BDK though... what a blow. But this gives NZ a good chance because India can easily be complacent here and Ross Taylor seems to up his batting when captaining. So could still work out well for NZ. India have to watch out.
Good comment, and I agree, though
You are sounding like the crapinfo commentator.
was a little unnecessary.

Well, in fairness, compared to the Aussie series where Craig bowled a bad ball every over, they were a bit more sporadic this time around (every 3-4 overs), and im just blatantly ignoring day 3 where everyone bowled averagely. But Sodhi is still bowling 1 per over pretty much.

I just thought that when Craig got into a rhythm he was almost unplayable, hence getting Rahane, and had 3 dropped catches in 5 minutes in the 2nd innings. That spell was spot on. But yeah I agree that Santner should be no 1 spinner , he definitely looks the most threatening.

I know Kaneh is great and all, but he's not the biggest loss to this side IMO. They'd struggle a lot more without Santa.

yeah craig was their best bowler last test looking at it neutrally

also he did get pummelled in australia but that's where off spinners not named lyon or rangana go to die so you've got to give him some leeway

Must admit, when i first read the new yesterday that KW had a bug, I was surprised to read on further that was expected to be ok come game day. Those bugs in India for foreign players don't usually disappear overnight.

Our man at Eden Gardens, Sidharth Monga, says: "A steaming hot and muggy morning. No crowd in yet. Early rushes suggest Matt Henry will one of the three quicks. Sodhi seems like he will sit out.
Interesting. I mean I know the weather is humid but do they really think it's going to swing enough to justify Henry over Sodhi?

Yes he is and by miles, no matter which way you spin it.
Pls. Losing KW is akin to us losing Ashwin. Massive blow. He's their main guy.
I'd say Santa is their Ashwin tbh. He's bowled so many tight overs, takes key wickets, faced more balls than anyone else in the first Test and holds the lower-middle order together, and is also a superb fielder.

Losing Kane seems more akin to India losing one of Pujara/Vijay/Virat tbh

Lol, I blame us NZ fans, we've become so pessimistic about winning the toss that we're jinxing it.

Bhuvi in for Umesh is nice; but I wish we had dropped Nohit for Mishra.

Jeets and Henry in for NZ. The Kiwaahs must be so happy.

What do you reckon NZ would've done if they'd won it? With the conditions this morning, bowling first might not be a bad choice at all.
Honestly haven't even seen the conditions...I suppose I just assumed it's the usual SC thing of win toss, bat & look at what yummy curry dish is on the lunch menu.
