Apparently Latham's retired on 55. Would have preferred him to keep batting.
Haha yeah, classic isn't it?

Good enough to get a start, pretty much always, and yet it's always mental/physical fatigue that gets him out between 40-60. You'd think they'd have figured this out...

Thought it was because he wanted others to get a bat. Particularly the "all-rounder" crowd.

Sodhi and Craig getting a bat in place of Neesham and Ronchi is plain weird
Well, it looks like they are going to play all 3 spinners so are giving them a bat. I'd rather pick 2 of them with Neesham at 6 as we've still got Guptill and Williamson (and Taylor.!) for part-time offspin. I remember Santner didn't get a bat in the Zimbabwe tests which would have been useful before batting against South Africa, so I don't have a problem with the policy. It would be wasteful to let Ronchi bat, but he is flying a long way to carry drinks for a few weeks.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Watling retired out on 21.

I'm sure the logic there was "I'll probably be on this score when the tail throw it away so no point in going on"

Team wise that really convenient. Can play 3 spinners and the two top performing pacers without droping the supposed 'attack leader'
hope they bring in a deserving bat to replace him.

Explains why he was bowling offies in that BLACKCAPS live facebook video the other day. So Boult-Wags-Neesh-Sodhi-Santner on the cards then eh?

I think we need a third seamer. I don't want our spinners wasting the new ball.

I hope we're not falling into the old trap of playing **** spinners ahead of average seamers just because it's India.

Depends if India falls into the trap of producing complete dustbowls rather than just pitches that offer a bit of turn.

I'd love to see Henry come in and bowl Southee out of a Test spot. Unlikely to happen, unfortunate for Henry that he gets his chance in probable unconducive conditions.
