Best possible outcome for Howsie, now we can decide that Southee would've made all the difference
Say what you will about Southee, but his performances in the SC have been some of the best we've seen from any pacer in the last decade.

Probably something to do with the fact he was actually one of the better pacers going about period, around 2012 when he bowled so well in SL, doesn't change the fact he been pretty much below Test standard for over 2 years now.

Its just fate really, Ashwin just wasn't going to become the fastest bowler to 200 test wickets in 80 years while I was banned.

Are you more impressed by Mark Craig's 0-60?
I am tbh. Craig's shown he can be threatening in favourable conditions when he's not getting belted. If he's bowling well enough to not get belted against a batting lineup seemingly well capable of it, I think that's a good sign.

Well that settles the idea of Sodhi being a thing in this series
I suggest reading the match report on cricinfo from someone who watched the day's play. According to them Sodhi was the most impressive spinner... Scorecard reading isn't going to tell you everything.

I think reading into the figures isn't handy at all, though it must do some damage to Sodhi from a confidence point of view. From the report it looks like Santner and Craig were bowling quick and flat in preparation for the turners we might see in the Tests while Sodhi is obviously not going to attempt the same with his style of bowling. Not surprised the former two went for a lot less runs but created fewer chances at the same time on a flat wicket.

I love how on a pitch where basically everyone scored runs, Rohit got stumped for 18 by the spinner who went at 6 RPO.

Even a guy who hasn't played Ranji cricket since 2014 tonned up FFS.

Yeah but Rohit gets accused of making easy runs. So if he scored big here no one would have gave him any credit. Its lose/lose.
