Well, that was pretty embarrassing. Gall looked superb, but Punk looked like an amateur in there. Totally out of his depth. Take notes WWE guys.

Also, what a bizarre performance from Overeem. Looked so good in his last few, but that was just strange. Hands down, running away, throwing wild winging bombs, nothing like his last few performances. Pleased for Stipe, but would like to have seen a proper Overeem performance.

Tbf, i don't think this showed anyone anything new. Punk might have been one of the very worse people to make this move. he had nothing going on athletically non sporting (ie amateur wrestling). he just wanted to do it and works hard

Yeah, he got his ass handed to him. But fair enough. He wanted to have a go, took it seriously, and worked hard at it. Him being beaten (even in such convincing fashion) is no disgrace. Good for him for giving it his all.

Yep. Brock already proved the move can be made successfully, but had the amateur background.

Yep, pretty simple philosophy.

I can see how people may say its annoying he goes straight into UFC while other fighters have to work for years etc. etc. but that's capitalism brother. Clearly with his name he gets straight onto the card. The amount of hate directed to him was vile.

He got hate because it makes him almost cartoonishly hypocritical. You don't remember the reasons he gave for leaving WWE on that Cabana podcast?

Don't buy it. There's no way the majority of UFC fans who hated on him are doing it for that reason at all. Sure the WWE fan hate may be that, but not UFC.

The main reason is him being a pro wrestler / outsider walking straight in without a background in the sport.

Oh, that's fine then. I didn't know you meant only UFC fans.

There's a lot of crossover in the fanbase though, ironically because of guys like Punk (and Brock, obviously)

Not even just fans, lot of actual fighters were annoyed at first too from everything I read.

Anyway that's their right and they are free to feel that way. But the idea that this is just a guy trying something else and if he sucks at it who cares, is so simple.

Its similar to the criticism Israel Folau and Jarryd Hayne have got here in Australia for "code hopping" or "changing sports". You can find it disloyal or overhyped, but the way people feel so strongly about it is weird.

Yes Jono. I faced these challenges when I first signed up for cricsim too. It's a tough world out there.

Yeah, but your struggles stemmed from the fact that you are a terrible poster.

Those with a high level of posting ability (i.e. me) have made the transition with ease.

Are there any other wrestlers who could realistically make the switch? Brock had a lot going for him. As well as having the wrestling background and being ****ing massive, he was in a division where nobody had much technique anyway.
