CW chooses the second greatest batsman ever redux, 100 men from 5 eras whittled to 1

I've decided over the last few hours that 6 from each Round 3 heat will qualify for the next round. I like the idea of 18 players for next round coz it easily goes to 9, and that easily goes down to 3. I want a final of 3 instead of just 2 for something different. Also once we get down to 18, there will be 3 groups of 6, which are completely randomised. Hammond and Headley have already been in each other's heat 3 times now, it's time to start pitting people against other eras otherwise Round 4 would just be a formality(if it wasn't randomised, would there be any point even having Sutcliffe/Trumper in the first heat)

Still only cast 5 votes though

Round 3, Heat 1:

Hobbs (19 votes)
Headley (18 votes)
Hammond (17 votes)
Hutton (17 votes)
Sutcliffe (9 votes)
Trumper (7 votes)

Grace (4 votes)
Ranji (2 votes)
Compton (2 votes)
Macartney (1 vote)

Round 3, Heat 2:

vote for your top 5

Clyde Walcott
Everton Weekes
Gary Sobers
Graeme Pollock
Greg Chappell
Sunil Gavaskar
Viv Richards
Alan Border
Martin Crowe
Steve Waugh

Someone, guess OS, asked me why KW over Amla. Coz, I think KW Is a better test batsman. Simple as. :) Not that any of the choices were easy that round, mind you. Toughest so far.
I wouldn't have minded so much even if you'd picked someone like David Warner over Amla, even though I'd obviously disagree, because of their different styles and positions. The thing is, Amla and KW are very similar kinds of batsmen in their approach and since Amla has done what KW has, only for far longer, I just don't understand the logic of picking KW over him.

Going to be fairly common choice this bunch even though there are some top batsmen in the remaining lot.

Btw, why are we voting for only 5 if you are looking for the top 6?

because last heat we only voted 5 and I want to keep it consistent within the rounds... I only realised after making heat 1 yesterday that 18 in the next round works better for the structure I want. I agree it's a little silly. This heat would have really benefited from a top 6 voting system as well. Oh well
