I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Alternatively we shore up the weak af batting

1. J Raval
2. T Latham
3. K Williamson
4. R Taylor
5. whoeeverjustgrabsomeguyoffthestreet
6. BJ Watling+
7. J Neesham
8. M Santner
9. I Sodhi
10. N Wagner
11. T Boult

I had thought the squad for Africa was the same but they haven't announced it, so we might see some changes

Neesham said on radio this morning that he might take the new ball...
Haha, what the *** is going on here? Could this get weirder? Neesham only played white-ball cricket for Derby, 1 List A game & a dozen T20 games in which his bowling went for 9.40 runs an over. Now he's opening the bowling in *** India? I suppose he'll be opening the batting in front of Latham next... I give up.

Without having heard the interview, he could have meant he will take the 'new ball' in the same way that Bracewell did. At around 8-12 overs old. We seem to fairly often go with Southee and Boult opening, Southee coming off, being replaced by Henry/Bracewell, and then Southee comes back to replace Boult. Wagner coming in after the Henry/Bracewell or Southee 2nd spell.

No, he actually was talking about opening. He said he'd done it for Derbyshire ("admittedly with a white ball") and would be keen to do it.

I just heard that in a little soundbite during the news, so I didn't hear how the question was worded in the full interview - whether it's something that's actually on the cards or not.

Well I'm sure Jeet Raval would be keen to open the batting in the 1st Test but that ain't happening either.

:)

It's the *** twilight zone, I've given up trying to even guess what they're thinking this Tour.

Hrmm not bad. For full kre8ivity I used a random number generator and this was the first one I got:

Taylor
Neesham
Watling
Nicholls
Latham
Williamson
Guptill
Santner
Craig
Sodhi
Southee

Looks awesome

* some concessions to sensibility retained i.e. Southee can't bat in the top 7

You have to trust that Hesson, Kane and the selectors are privy to more information than we are. Maybe Jeets was getting dominated in the nets by Santa's and Kane's spinners and they figured he just wasn't a viable option for the India tests?

We're playing ODIs as well, so I wouldn't be surprised if this was some daft cost cutting measure to go on top of our selectors just being generally incompetent these days.

or perhaps they think if they drop a seamer or two, then dropping a 3rd player and debuting another is too much change for a coach who seems to like copy + paste team sheets.

most coaches and selectors figure out by the age of about 8 that net batting and bowling is of limited relevance to actual cricket.

Geez, Howsie is going to be an angry man if/when Southee gets dropped. All fury will be scorned upon all non-performing non-ND players throughout the series.

If I was Raval I'd actually be glad I'd been given a life raft to escape the sinking ship.
