You really think Chappell's test resume is less impressive?
He was obviously awesome while he was playing, but I'm a big longevity guy, especially when it comes to finding a way to separate the Test careers of the very top guys. The couple of years he missed due to WSC just compounded what was a relatively short career compared to many of the other greats. If I could've considered other cricket he definitely would've been in, but looking at Tests alone I don't think he contributed as much as Harvey. He was in a strong field too -- I'm kind of surprised I didn't end up voting for him in Round 2, but that's the way it fell.

Reasonably comfortable with the first 5, last spot could've gone a few ways though.

Lol @ Andy Flower being a better Test batsman than Crowe. One of the better examples of when stats really do lie for mine, due to eras, bowling attacks, not-outs etc... but each to their own

Leaving Greg out was the toughest call. However, had Doug Walters been in the mix I might have voted for him! I just don't have that much love for Greg Chappell to be honest.
I was at the SCG when he was caught behind first ball off Colin Croft in the middle of his seven duck season. No one could ****ing believe it when it was happening. Was a ridiculous run of outs. I think he got over it when the Windies physio asked him if he was actually watching the ball, and he realised he wasn't.

Soft spot for Chanderpaul because of longevity, average etc. But just can't nominate him for aesthetic reasons.
