Aussie contingent here know nothing. They said Rogers would be a failure and think Lyon is a good bowler.
Not sure why anyone would have thought Rogers would be a failure, but regarding Lyon being a good bowler, well I can't explain why so many Aussie supporters harbour that delusion

One Aussie commentator said just a few month back that Lyon is a better bowler than Ashwin, lol.

should be banned from going anywhere near a cricket ground for the rest of his life for that comment imo

He's a bit unlucky tbf. He only played that one series against England and was ordinary but had a couple of decent innings cut short with declarations and an unlucky catch. He was rightfully dropped though and I doubt he'd even be that much better than Mitch Marsh as a batsman alone.

Pretty funny that people are thinking he would have been a good selection for this tour.

I don't know about you, but when I hear a grandfather ginger who can't see is drafted into the Test team I wouldn't blame some people for being a bit skeptical.

Which part is the reason for being skeptical? Grandfather or ginger? I think ginger edges it

Just wondering the same brigade of posters who say Australia's batsmen's stats are inflated because they play on roads must think Hazlewood and Lyon and ATG bowlers already averaging low 20s with the ball on those same roads

ftr IMO Lyon is absolutely ****

Myself, the biggest problem we have is that we're expecting Lyon to be a world-beater when he plainly isn't, rarely dominant when you'd think he should be but nor is he out of the attack for long. Bloke is the already the best performed offie Oz has ever produced and, unless you're buying what the O'Keefe fans are selling (I'm not), he's still the best choice for the Test side with the bowlers around him.

Mind you, talking too much about the bowlers seems somewhat pointless when you consider how utterly tragic the batting has been for quite a few years now. Just about every Test failure for the last decade is and should be laid squarely at their feet.
