I'm thinking Starc's bowling has been the best by an Aussie in a losing series since Warne in the 2005 Ashes. Am I forgetting any others?
On this, what do people think the best bowling performance by an Aussie in the last say 15 years?

Could choose from any number by Warne & McGrath or a couple by Gillespie and Johnson

Mitch at Adelaide on an absolute road is hard to go past

Starc has bowled extremely well and I think it is really fair to say that he's like a new Wasim this series.
Would be great if this is a start of something really good (ala Dale Steyn vs Pakistan 08) instead of one off. Starc like this sharing the new ball with James Pattinson is something i'm looking forward to

Johnson in Adelaide tops anything McG or Warne did in the 00s, for mine. Just incredible.

Edit: Honourable mention to Warne in Sharjah. Brutal conditions, flat deck, Pakistan bats had no clue.

Best series of bowling is Johnson. Arguably the greatest series ever given all that had gone personally before and the fact the side had lost easily to the same opposition a few months earlier.

Him at Centurion was possibly even better. For starters a much less demoralised batting lineup.

Although I was looking for series rather than individual Tests :p

I think they weren't demoralised until after that innings. I mean, the guy you've previously dominated is now shredding your bats on a deck the oppo just smacked all but 600 on.. The **** happened, man.

Still Johnson anyway. Haha

Yeah, Mitch's Ashes 2013 was pretty incredible. Hard to choose between that one and Warne in 2005.

Doesn't appear Smith is the best catcher around these days. That 2 down in 2 hours for em?
el capitano having some struggles there but because el capitano is a douche it's funny
He does drop quite a few absolute clangers for a fielder of his all-round quality. Just not concentrating, I guess.
The data suggests that he is a great ODI fielder but a poor Test fielder.
Maybe he loses focus in the long form?

Spends a lot less time in the slips in ODIs I imagine.
Did he field a lot in the slips for NSW? I always thought of him early on as more of a natural cover/point fielder. Inexplicable clangers are pretty common with good fielders who become (even very good) makeshift slippers.

Warne made a point at close of play yesterday about how quite a few slip fielders learn the art at Test level rather than First Class level and it got me asking about Cook and where he'd fielded prior to captaining. There seems to be this convention that the captain fields at 1st slip regardless of whether he's any good at it.

Certainly don't remember Ponting being at slip much in 2005.
