*Official* Australia in Sri Lanka 2016

I'm thinking Starc's bowling has been the best by an Aussie in a losing series since Warne in the 2005 Ashes. Am I forgetting any others?
Alderman in 81 immediately springs to mind but obviously that was a long time before the 2005 Ashes. I think Harris 2013 is the only one that comes close since Warne.

If you're only giving Mitchell Marsh 10 overs out of 140, it does beg the question as to what the **** he is doing in the Australian side at the moment.

For me Marsh is where Smith was 5 years ago. Looks a talent (not as good as Smith who at least scored a couple of decent 50s) but needs to get back to Shield cricket and stick some performances together.
Breaking news: Our selectors have no idea

We played 2 all-rounders and they bowled 10 overs between them whilst Bird is an infinitely better bowler than Holland in any conditions

Lillee took 39 in that series too, after recovering from pneumonia early in the tour.

In other news, I love Sanath but his commentary is lolbad as ever

Hard to be too critical of Starc but has he really bowled that well?

Obviously taken a shedload of wickets on pitches that dont suit him but it's not as if he's bowled a series of unplayable deliveries

From what I've seen, he's kept running in and has been more consistent than previously but it's hardly been Akram MKII

Great. Marsh is getting runs.

That's another year in the side, then.
He scored 182 in his last Test innings; didn't stop them leaving him out for ages after that.

The whole meme that has been his career has kind of clouded people's judgement of his cricket the last year or so. If he didn't have that ridiculous history preceding him he'd probably be regarded as a bit unlucky recently, and rightly so.

Only if it wasn't the WI he'd smashed...

Wow that's tight.

EDIT: wow I thought that was very close to pitching in line

hahahaha
Arnold: "it looks like it has pitched in line"

then
Murgatroyd: "it's pitched outside leg and by some distance"

Yeah but even aside from that, for the first time in his career actually started putting the numbers up reasonably consistently in domestic cricket and on the non-Test portions of tours he's been on. It was always optimistic to expect him to be much more than he was at Test level when he struggling to average 40 consistently for WA and failing in tour games. Now though, not so much.

Yep

Both his test and fc average is around 40 now and that has taken a run of good form

Starc has bowled extremely well and I think it is really fair to say that he's like a new Wasim this series.
