Maybe if he played every game against the West Indies.Another ton incoming from the GOAT all-rounder-to-be.

You're joking right? Runs at home and in all our away tours except NZ and this series iirc and one of the very few batsmen who looked like he knew what he was doing in the recent series on minefields vs SA.Not a chance, tier below Cook and Warner. Also he is 32, bad series and he could be done for his career.
That is how it starts.Maybe if he played every game against the West Indies.
He is a good player for sure and no he doesn't deserve to be dropped after a bad series but I was making the point about his age. Selectors get twitchy with players of that age, so a bad series can wrongly do them in.You're joking right? Not as good as Cook, I agree, but he's the 3rd best opener in the world for me and not that far off Warner. Definitely not someone who deserves to be dropped after a bad series.
Utter bullshit. Ashwin isn't close to Kapil as a test batsman until he does something significant against a genuinely good team. The Kapil v Ashwin comparison at end of last test was interesting. Not completely inappropriate given Kapil wasn't a terrific batsman really. Ashwin is not a specialist by any means though, lets be clear about that. He does a job as a lower order player and it's great we have that option. I would prefer Ashwin to the hit and miss Kapil as a batsman btw for tests at least, ftr.
There is a bit of bounce in the wicket though nothing extra ordinary. Probably just didn't want to take lot of risks after the flurry of wickets. I like it.Any particular reason why they are going so slow? Haven't been able to watch.
