nicholls deserves the summer but the below options have pornographic unnecessary batting or bowling options

Bat Zealand

Latham | Guptill | Big Daddy Kane | The Boss | Young | Corey J | WPWB | Murali Santa | WAGner | 6outhee | Boult

Bowl Zealand

Latham | Guptill | Big Daddy Kane | The Boss | WPWB | Corey J | Murali Santa | Henry | WAGner | 6outhee | Boult

Oh yeah? Are you predicting Guptill turns himself into a test-quality opening bat, or that the Myth makes it?

Not Terrible
Guptill Is already not terrible, and I think we should settle for that.

On this recall he is averaging 34.15 Or 30.88 if you remove Zimbabwe. Don't think we should consider dropping him until either someone is clearly superior or he fails over a prolonged period.

guptill should just be allowed to biff. it will work against middling attacks at home and maybe occassionally against good ones. when he tries to bat properly it ends in valiant 100 ball 29s like the one he did in australia. not really enough.

he's failed over a long period.

Longest leash of any batsman still playing test cricket, AFAIK. Which, as you say isn't terrible since we don't have batting depth, but any opening batsman who puts their hand up (Raval right now) can and should replace him and get an extended shot at it.

Yeah but I wanna play Pimp My NZ cricket team where only the ideal candidates are selected (like Big Daddy Kane), not the reality that Guptill is the least bad we could pick right now. Someone tell me about some 19 year old who will be a good opener in four years.

This idea that we shouldn't drop him because we don't have Don Bradman waiting in the wings is killing me.

He's failed, over a long period. There are other batsmen who may also fail but they should get a shot. Sure, none of them will average 50, but some of them might average 35.

Anyway, the adjusted runs score so far:

Guptill:28
Latham: 45
Williamson: 38
Rossco: 20
Watling: 10

So Rossco and Watling have starts, hopefull they can at least get to 50

are zimbabwe just going to bowl anti-cricket stuff until nz get bored?

i mean fair enough, if you cbf then annoy the opposition, but it's going to be boring if nz dont get bored.
