Mike Hussey stands out from that list as being a very good test batsmen.
yeah well we he managed to stay good and hover above 50 despite being at 80 after 20 tests

Kambli wasn't given much chance at all to redeem himself and didn't play tests after the age of 24 so he'l always be looked at as a 'what-if'

Adams was allowed to keep playing and ended up averaging 40 and many people probably consider him lucky to average that coz he was so awful in his last 3-4 years as a test batsman(and thats all I remember about him)

The funny thing about Kambli is that most batsman are barely beginning at the age of 24. Yet by then he had played his last Test and was averaging in the mid-50's. Makes you wonder how good he could've been with a better attitude.

For any Indians watching cricket at the time, was the hype around him circa 1993 as suffocating as it was for Sachin?

Adams was such a good foil for Lara before his rapid decline. It was sad to see a bloke who was so good just lose the plot completely in the latter stages of his career.

Was also a ridiculously good short leg fielder and bowled some decent part time spin. Was a fine cricketer.

Let's not forget that he could also keep wicket despite being left-handed. WAG.

I can actually recall people in my plebeian social-media circles in 2013 being mad that Khawaja wasn't playing in India because "h-hes better at spin than anyone else"

Homeworkgate actually saved us more pain.

In what sense do you reckon Marsh has been a positive? I suppose he's bowled ok but I haven't seen anything from him this series to make me think he's a test match number six.

I'm not sure what Marsh has done that's positive. He's hardly bowled and hasn't made a score with the bat.
