I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Potential Zimbabwe XI Had Things Not Gone To **** Circa 2000?

1. T Mawoyo
2. V Sibanda
3. H Masakadza
4. B Taylor+*
5. G Ballance
6. S Ervine
7. S Williams
8. G Cremer
9. S Masakadza
10. K Jarvis
11. T Panyangara/T Chatara

Pretty terrible effort tbh I imagine Cribb could draft up a better side.

Edit: he got there first, this took me so damn long

That's what I quite like about Howsie tbh. His love for Northern Districts is very strong, but he doesn't spend too much of his posting career overzealously leaping to the defence of players, like a sic 'em dog.

Good on ND for being like that, I suppose. Still having blokes around who would dare to call out the young players on the dire aspects of their play, before they ingrain.
Cmon mate. You can call me a homer, and I'll wear that badge. I'd like to think I've been critical of guys at times, and sycophantic at others. But saying Howsie isn't? He's had Joe Walker in his shadow Test side at times.

It's cool if me and Hendrix, or anyone else disagree about things. I doubt he had to use the type of language he did to describe my opinion, but he had his own on the Swann dismissals that contrasted mine. Great. Neato. If I wanted to dissect cricket with an echo, I'd buy a dictaphone.

Shingi and Sibanda were actually available for this game and just went unselected, believe it or not. Neither are in great form, but.. yeah.

What the **** happened to Shingai? Haven't seen him in a while. He's comfortably their best available quick with Chatara and Panyangara injured AFAIC.

This is how little I know about Zimbabwe atm. Always thought Shingi was quality from small sample size but don't know his recent form, and Sibanda, despite his deficiencies is generally the best opening bat they've got available, or the one most likely to succeed.

Mind you, Raza did ok opening IIRC.

First two overs of the day, but this is some seriously pedestrian pace from Soult. Haven't cracked 130kmh.

Not Terrible
Zimbabwe have had a lot of unfortunate calls go against them. Which really doesn't help with how awful they've been.

I didn't pick Ballance because he'd have to spend four years re-qualifying. You could also arguably pick the Currans but I think that'd be a bit cheaty.
That's a good team. Would be a competitive. Sad that we can't see the best Zimbabweans represent their country.

Can't figure out what the noise was. IMO his bat definitely didn't hit the pad, but I don't think he nicked it either.

The clearly audible ambient commentary when talking amongst themselves makes it so much worse.
You could actually hear Jerry coaching Sibanda after the last wicket, explaining he had to keep speaking until they went to the break.

Been a decent partnership this. Some jammy slices but really shows they could've scored so many more runs.
