The critic's curse I guess? I've always thought Hafeez to be a talented player, but for whatever reason his numbers abroad have been dismal. Did well until that dismissal but test cricket ultimately is about endurance.

There have been plenty of opening partnerships that have struggled, the SL openers did nothing this year, NZ in 2013 & WI in 2012 weren't much cop either, granted all early season series.

hafeez is very talented as long as the ball stays below penis height and is gun barrel straight.

His primary usefulness was as an all rounder. Since his bowling got banned he has just been a liability.
