Kusal Mendis has been very quietly promising all tour. It's putting massive responsibility on a 21 year old to be batting 3 both formats of an away tour in largely difficult conditions. Has something about him certainly. It's a pancake today for sure but he's timed the **** out of everything he's gone after.

Mendis' technique and temperament impressed me even in NZ, though he didn't get many runs there.

Sri Lanka getting comfortable here. Big second wicket stand the difference, no rebuilding job required for Chandimal & Mathews again

Yeah, me too. I was against his selection originally but after getting a look at him there i definitely didn't want to see him dropped.

If you tie him down he has a tendency to eventually play an outlandish shot so he's got some work to do on his strike rotation and his shot selection, but the basics in terms of his defensive setup and stroke range are very impressive.

Yes he's 21 only - so a good long-term prospect for SL and has enough time to fine-tune his game.

Lovely shot from Chandi there to bring up another fifty..good odi leg of the tour for him(especially since he is not fully fit)..

Fully agree with comments on Mendis, if we can get the openers to become more consistent, then with him at three,we have a solid top 5..two more to find...

Not really sure why Mo was brought back. I suppose they thought the pitch might aid spin more than seam. In any case we're light of death bowlers again.
