time to reject Dhawan as an International T20 player...over the last 2 seasons Rahane has clearly shown that he's much better...even all of Murali Vijay, Robin Uthappa and Gautam Gambhit are better T20 players than Dhawan
Dhawan has gone mental in all formats last 6 months. Just keeps hitting every thing which comes his way carelessly and irresponsibly.

Nah not in all formats, he has only played T20s in the last few months ...Before that, he was very good in the ODI series in Australia

Dhawans done well in the last two games though

What's your point? Somehow Dhawan's 2 semi-decent games are more important than Rahane's 2 good full seasons? (and I'm reiterating that all of Vijay, Uthappa and Gambhir are better T20 openers than Shikhar)

Yeah Rahane's first choice partner for Rohit now easily. KL Rahul's got potential as well, been doing pretty well this season.

Oh god no, Rahene has had enough chances for India in limited overs cricket, yes he always does the business in the IPL, but that innings in the semi final is a textbook example of how not to bat on an absolute road where you need to set a high score to defend.

Dhawan & Williamson together at the top for Hyderabad is a disaster. You pretty much need Warner to make a huge score or you're going to struggle to crack 140.
Pretty much, if its a low scoring game then you have a chance if the bowlers do well and a cameo from Hooda, but I fear for them on a road chasing a big score if Warner fails.

I think Morgan adds a little more to Sunrisers than Kane even if he is erratic as hell these days.

They don't have much choice though, this is pretty much the best they can do because they decided to waste money on Yuvraj. Warner killing it and the strong bowling means they're top of the table anyways.
Yuvraj has been stealing money for years in the IPL now though, has some epic matches but for the money he costs is normally a flop.

Love how Henriques just keeps doing enough to not be completely useless. Been shocking with the bat this tournament but he slips in a cameo every 4 games and a cheeky wicket here and there has kept his spot relatively safe.

He gets to much flack I think. They need an all rounder and apart from him their is not much choice. They should have kept Bopara or got another but as they didn't he deserves his spot for now.

And 90% of Dhawan's innings in the last 6 months have been perfect examples of how not to bat in T20s.

For me the issue with Dhawan is that he has forgotten caution completely. He wasn't always like this. Not sure what's happened. However, nothing annoys me more than seeing a player throw their wicket away.

I don't necessarily think it should be Rahane replacing him, but yeah Dhawan shouldn't be in the T20I side anymore.

Not sure I can look at Dhawan's strike rates in T20s over the last year and say he has forgotten caution. Would argue the total opposite, he is an absolute plodder nowadays.

Agreed. I wouldn't have either.

When it comes to explosive Indian openers, the IPL hasn't discovered any this time round. I suppose they could go back to Uthappa but he has had chances before and never really locked a spot in.

No his SR is appalling too.

Edit: beaten by 91

Plus Rahul is a better 'batsman' than Uthappa in general....although I'd try Rahane for a full series before Rahul

Yeah fair enough lads, I have watched a lot of the IPL this year as usual, but have dipped in and out of the Bangalore lads when they bat, focusing more on their "bowling" efforts, he has been pretty good, deserves a chance if the alternatives are Rahane and Dhawan who we have seen a million times.
