I think the thing that really disappoints me about Arsenal these days is how bland the football is.

The Invincibles would have a field day with the current Arsenal side because they played at a tempo that this lot couldn't live with.

Nice of Arsenal to do us the solid they couldn't do last week. We're worryingly reliant on Everton for the remaining games, however.

Of course there's a part of me that hopes our horrid club does get relegated. That is an admittedly small but nagging part.

I hope they go up too purely because you'd think they'd be a bigger threat than the others for next season.

Yeah someone raised this on the TRFC forum I go on and I believe they do meet the requirements just about.

However, apparently they plan to stay part time even if they do go up. Can't remember that happening in recent memory

Yeah someone raised this on the TRFC forum I go on and I believe they do meet the requirements just about.

However, apparently they plan to stay part time even if they do go up. Can't remember that happening in recent memory

I can't remember it ever happening, but maybe not a bad idea, there have been a few clubs hit severe financial problems from switching, long time ago obviously, but it drove Maidstone out of business.

I would say the vast majority that have gone up have already been full-time.

Yeah I know I'm 87 when we beat you lot to stay up in the last game we had a lot of part time players. But in the 'modern game' it hasn't happened, as you've said its been the full time teams that have gone up

Today was a fun. Fulham are really quite bad, not sure how they have managed it really, not got any real financial problems that I am aware of.

Yeah, as much as I agree with their sentiments, that whole episode yesterday was a bit "special."

Wouldn't the PFA have a word? Find it hard to believe the Football League allows part time players

There's nothing in the entry criteria about pro/semi pro status

The thing is, if they went pro straight away they'd risk losing a bulk of their squad. A lot of semi pro players earn more being part time and doing their 'normal' job too, so the sudden cost of going full time would be massive.

I'm sure if they stayed up it would be in their plans.

Back in the early 80's the consensus amongst "experts" was that Division 3 and 4 clubs would all have to go part time to survive. Looking at the Braintree website they have a far better ground than many League 2 sides. It's small but purposely re-developed by 2012 with League status in mind.
