Neesham's still easier than any chick in North Easy Valley. 38 then out to the troll spin of Macewell.

ah north east valley.
Now that Kippax drills down his insinuation, I do recall a few nocturnal visits to various streets in North East Valley. Luckily most of them were on the flat. The hills and valleys came later . . .

The cafe at one entrance which was always filled with 60+ers used to make a mean omelette.

I'm extremely hungry right now, for the record.
Which begs the question - were you chasing grannies in there? Is that the Garden Seat?

I've never been a Krusty Korner disciple like many ex-students.

Well he's great mates with Otago's Sam Wells, and they are about to lose NcCullum to retirement. Nick Beard also a bit of a non-entity now after action alterations. Could well be a T20 gig for Somerville if he wanted it. FC harder because of Mark Craig.

Hamilton vs Waikato Valley sounds like a mismatch. Hamilton must be stacked.
The Valley had a decent team. Tim Seifert and Zak Gibson. Plus Anish Desai and Sam Cooper who are both ND A players. They managed 280 in the second dig against what was pretty much a first class bowling attack. Hamilton is good but the Valley isn't that far behind.

In saying 'pretty much a first class bowling attack', you miss that NZC/ND restricted Kuggs and Baker to 12 overs in the match. Throw in that they rested Watling and didn't release Devcich (lol), while Santner was also out for World T20 duty, so you sub them in and Hamilton goes pretty close to being a passable FC team on its own:

1. Devcich
2. Dodunski
3. Mitchell
4. Watling +
5. Santner
6. Hatwell
7. Bettley
8. Kuggeleijn
9. Walker
10. Walker
11. Baker

Swap out Freddie Walker for a third seamer and that's genuinely a borderline FC side.

All that being said, WV weren't at all helped by NZC apparently requesting Gibson not bowl at all (which they consequently ignored); Mitchell destroyed him to chase down the 40 in 4 overs.

Kippax, can you explain your Nathan Smith to Wellington goss? Is it likely to happen, or are you being hopeful..

Arnel surely is gone next year, and with no NZ quality bowlers at all in their lineup, he would be helpful!

Christi Viljoen set to replace an injured Wells for Otago tomorrow. Blair Soper is also back in the frame after two years, but likely to be 12th man.
Canterbury: Peter Fulton (c), Michael Davidson, Leo Carter, Chad Bowes, Ken McClure, Andrew Ellis, Todd Astle, Cameron Fletcher, Tim Johnston, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, Hamish Bennett

Otago: Brad Wilson (c), Michael Bracewell, Neil Broom, Derek de Boorder, Mark Craig, Jacob Duffy, Jack Hunter, Anaru Kitchen, Jimmy Neesham, Craig Smith, Blair Soper, Christi Viljoen.

Interesting to see Chad Bowes (former SA u19 captain) make it into the Canterbury squad so quick. Talented but couldn't really nail provincial 3-day cricket here so interesting to see if he can be successful in all formats in NZL because if a real no-hoper like Wagner can be the success he is, you got to wonder how far Bowes could go if it clicks into place for him.

Christi Viljoen | Cricket Players and Officials | ESPN Cricinfo - Looks like a Saffer/Namibian - Even tried his luck in England with some 2nd XI cricket.

Bowes is basically replacing Hira? Or is Favidson replacing Hira? In which case Bowes is taking Henry Nicholls spot.

Actually where the **** is Nicholls? Is he in the T20 squad? I should check that before ranting about skiving off cricketers .....

Probably unlikely because he'll still be attending school when the 2016/17 training and matches begin. Edgar did seem genuinely interested, adding assistant coach Pocknall in the cc of his reply. I told him to specifically offer the carrot of the new ball's swing to Smith, which he won't get in Otago.

Haha. A lot of people I know have a romanticised view of the Valley, as being cool and stuff, but don't live there anymore. When pushed why the usual answer is "cold and no sun." Most overrated suburb/area in Dunedin.

Krusty Korner is rank. Been there twice; the second time to give it a chance after having a terrible lunch and terrible coffee there the first time. It was just as bad second time round.

Gardens City New World, however, is gold. Best supermarket going round. It used to have an awesome Asian supermarket with the best imported ice creams, but has since moved into the city. As such, I have no reason to casually visit the NEV.

Nothing wrong with a bit of experience. I think that was the name!

I dunno why I first went in there, just out of curiosity I think, but then I found out it was cheap and delicious, and I lived just over the road, so it became a favourite haunt haha.

Never went to Crusty Corner, it never looked that good to me.
