Yeah one of Heef's men had a chance to catch the cup with an overhead catch in the deep, the southerly breeze taking a lofted shot from Ryder just over his head, but not for six. I quite liked Taita's opening bowler Matt Kelly ftr. Salisbury was really poor and down the leg side for wides, no wickets with the back-handed slower ball either, so Heef probably did his job.
A star studded North Easy Valley in Dunedin club cricket ruined by Michael Bracewell. The Valley team was featuring Anaru Kitchen, Neil Broon, Jimmy Neesham and Derek De Boorder. They posted 179 all out. Carisbrook Dunedin chased it down inside 29 overs, with Bracewell scoring 130, the nexy highest scorer was 10. https://www.crichq.com/#matches/354214/2nd_innings

Just checking in with some news around the Upper Hutt traps.
Matt Bacon is an Upper Hutt boy. He's not as quick as Ollie Newton our other bowler in the Firebird squad. (I faced Ollie and rated him around 130 in the nets). Where Matt lacks in speed he makes up for it in aesthetics. He has a bowler's frame. He is tall and looks the part and has a decent action (according to reports).
Bruce Edgar is impressing the local clubs in his interactions with them and the cricketing fraternity is actually daring to hope he can improve Wellington's fortunes. "He is intelligent". Although I am flagrant Edgar fan I think my fandom notwithstanding he would make a great blackcaps coach.
From a local perspective participation in our high schools is thining out in co-ed schools despite the recent good run by the blackcaps. It has apparently returned to rates in the 1970s before the 1980s boom.
