I think his 6 not outs in his first 19 innings is what is misleading this (does not appear normal). I consider 'fastest to 1000 runs' a more meaningful rating whereby he achieved it in 18 innings, the same as Mark Taylor, Doug Walters, Arthur Morris and Jimmy Adams.

Genuine question. I didn't think his getting out at the end of his 220 the other day mattered at all, but thought that finishing not out in his fifty at Trent Bridge was impressive.

not misleading at all. If you get more not outs you're better because the bowlers don't get you out . . . obviously.

I know that Vengasarkar had about 10 matches in 86 where he averaged 100+ and managed to score more than a 1000 runs

Dozens of people. There are even entire threads about it. The Aus/NZ tour thread is full of people saying it. Don't post about something you have no idea about, which seems to be pretty much everything I've ever seen you post about.

Averaging 33 is pretty par for the course under tougher circumstances than he's had this summer, and the schedule is about to get tougher - away to SL and India and home to SA. Average of Australian batsmen under those circumstances this decade is 30.1. If you take out Clarke, that drops to 27.17.

I trust you have filtered that to top 7 batsmen only? Because it seems really low.

Yeah surely specialist Australian batsmen other than Clarke average more than 27 in those conditions? I mean I know Australia has performed pretty poorly in India, but not that badly in the other two places.
