To be honest this was not a great SA u/19 side but I`m still disappointed, even if this was not totally unexpected. I do think that the U/19 SA cricketer need more experience in sub-continent, slow pitch conditions much earlier. A lot of our players only learn to bat on slow pitches after reaching the SA 'A' and touring the world, which is much to late imo. I`m sure this is true for subcontinent players regarding the faster pitches of SA/Aus/Eng etc.
Not as much. Too little respect given to spin in the early years in these three countries (in varying degrees of course). Same's not true wrt fast bowling and the subcontinent sides.

It's hard to consider inexperience with Asian conditions to be the reason for going out to Namibia.

Agree 100% that the Namibian team played better, I am unsure however of what the Namibian wickets are like and I suspect that they may be like Zim wickets which have a similar slow/low feel... but this is entirely a guess. For all I know most of the Namibian players maybe be boarding at tops schools in SA.

But it does not make my point irrelevant... we where always going to struggle and SA players do not get enough exposure to slow low wickets, with truly good quality spin bowlers, until probably SA 'A' level. Even the recent Indian tour by the SA team, the largely in-experienced players looked like deer in headlights which just put more pressure on the experienced players, who buckled. (By the way this is not making excuses there where many reasons we lost that series so badly, including India spinners playing especially well, but the inexperience on those sort of pitched had a big impact.)

India really should kick themselves if they don't win this tournament - they really do look a cut above all the other teams.

It implies that the Namibians are more experienced, which they aren't.
His post does seem to imply that, but you still can definitely consider inexperience in the conditions as a factor in their loss. The gap between two sides may shorten when conditions are unfamiliar to both imo.

Finnie and Clarkson have been major disappointments for NZ in this tourney. Nice to see Allen in the runs today. Has anyone seen him bat?

I think if anything the namibian players COULD be more used to dry and slow conditions. That said they were probably just better... Though this side for South Africa will always need one or two players to really stand out as most the side looks rather handicapped. 6/11?...Just saying

Such a weak excuse. This team rolled all the cub sides in cub week. It's just a really bad generation. End of.

Haven't you got a couple of promising players there? Some young all rounder?

We (NZ) lost to Nepal and I consider this NZ side a strong one. I am not too sure how much can be read into these results, really.

In the previous tournament Markram and Valli were excellent and that helped a lot. But if you are saying there are 7 of 11 players of colour on merit then i applaud the great work CSA is doing.

Namibia could be better at us at cricket at this level, but i think its still a valid question to ask whats up.

Why do you assume that a white player is there on merit but a player of colour isn't? That is a blatantly racist assumption.

Out of interest, why did CSA get rid of Jennings as the youth coach ?
He got them to the final of the wc in 2008 and obviously won under him last time.
