International Captain
Blues have dropped Candu for the NZ match v WA

The NSW Blues will take a squad of 13 players to Christchurch, New Zealand for their next Sheffield Shield match against Western Australia starting on February 3.

This is the first time that a Sheffield Shield match has been played in New Zealand, with the game also being used as a warm-up match for players involved in the up-coming Qantas Tour of New Zealand.

Test players Nathan Lyon and Peter Nevill have both been named in the NSW squad with Nic Maddinson to captain the side for the second time.

Off-spinner Will Somerville has also been selected. Somerville is no stranger to conditions in New Zealand having played First Class cricket for Otago.

The Blues will be without Stephen O’Keefe who is still recovering from a calf injury sustained during the Third Commonwealth Bank Test match against the West Indies in Sydney, while fast bowler Gurinder Sandhu has been omitted from the squad.

The full squad is (club/regional zone or junior association in brackets):

Nic Maddinson (captain – Eastern Suburbs/Southern)
Sean Abbott (Parramatta/Parramatta DCA)
Doug Bollinger (Fairfield-Liverpool/Parramatta DCA)
Ryan Carters (Sydney University/ACT)

Nice top 6, the bowling looks weak though. I do want to see Swepson some more though. Cutting and Reardon are injured - Henry, Labuschagne and Steketee dropped.
