To be honest whilst I can see why people find it funny, it is a pretty **** thing to do. She is doing her job no matter how stupid a job it is, and he is making it difficult and uncomfortable for her.

Yeah, on reflection I can't really see why people think it is that funny. Was uncomfortable and completely witless.

Not very nice, but it could have been far worse. The 2014 is far worse, not?

Cultural difference perhaps? Maybe in Caribbean macho culture this is not that bad?

He should have cut the "Don't blush, baby" line and also should have avoided the awkward laugh after that, if he wanted to grab a drink. Amateur!

Not being a **** is a worldwide cultural expectation.

Chris Gayle is the antithesis of cool and has been for years. Dressing in clothes Ed Hardy wouldn't be caught dead designing, feeling like he needs to tell everyone when he has ***....he's basically a cricketing Dan Bilzerian. No one gives a **** anymore. Or they shouldn't.

Pretty awkward and lame from Gayle. The outrage is a tad disproportionate but it's one of those cases where I prefer it be overblown than there not being any uproar at all. The direness needed to be acknowledged.

Sure enough.
Yet, the perception of when someone is being a **** or being charming can be quite different, not only depending on culture, but also on time, location & situation.

I guess the live broadcast makes it quite clearly being a **** here. Small **** though.

A general remark: Haven't most men at some point in their lives made remarks that were meant to be charming, but we're rightfully perceived as 'being a ****'?

Yeah all he has to do is wait 10 seconds for the cameras to stop rolling then he can hit on whoever he pleases
That's the whole point though. It was clearly a performance as part of his cool carribbean on-camera persona. And a lame one at that.

cricinfo comments are good value:

"Old World charm is now being portrayed as ***ual harassment. The reporter is an adult and should be quite capable of defending herself in a friendly and lighthearted way. I think it is good for children and families to see a bit of non-offensive hetero-***ual banter. The media is constantly shoving the gay agenda down our throats that it is nice to see a bit of tongue-in cheek flirting, without foul language or anything explicit. If people like Gayle cannot be themselves without causing offence what is the world coming too. Hopefully the reporter was a pretty one and not a munter!!"
