Surprised he didn't read out a statement, I guess the Renegades have bugger all control of him compared to an NRL or AFL player who is full time employee of a club

Yeah it wasn't so much 'Sorry' as it was 'It was just a prank, bro'

Gnske in "no prevalent ***ism or racism exists" mode again?
Perhaps if I had ever been in those modes, but thanks for bothering to remember if I did.

But nah, especially after that interview I'm in the camp of that this isn't as gigantic a blow in the scheme of things to females in sports given this is really the day in the life of most journos (Can't even really call Mel a journo anyway)

What we have here is a typically over-sensitive, alarmist group of media bottom feeders creating a circus out of nothing.

Yes, Chris's comments were not appropriate but he really didn't do anything wrong in the grand scheme of things. It is clear to me that he was just putting it all on for the cameras, after all, the BBL is marketed as a 'party' form of cricket which is meant to be enjoyed with such atmosphere.

It's gotten to the point where David Barham, Channel Ten's head of sport has stated that he was "deeply offended" by Gayle's comments.

I mean, how on earth could anyone possibly be 'deeply offended' by this FFS? This kind of thing just sums up what an overtly politically-correct, apologist media is capable of.

Don't get me wrong, I agree that it wasn't an appropriate move on Chris' behalf. Hopefully he will avoid this kind of crap down the line because he doesn't need it.

So you say that it wasn't appropriate but that he didn't do anything wrong. gotcha

Good point, I contradicted myself there.

Let me clarify, I just feel Chris' flirtatiousness during the interview was a bit misguided & thus inappropriate. Clearly Chris wasn't trying to offend anyone at the time he was just trying to be entertaining.

However, to suggest that Chris did something 'wrong' is overkill & indicative of today's PC media, which is where my main article of indignation lies.

I won't comment on Gayle as I haven't seen it other than to say flirting with an interviewer isn't always wrong but clearly runs the real risk of crossing the line into inappropriate behaviour. That line can be pretty grey, so if you want to play that game you have to be prepared for a backlash if you get it wrong.

It is clear however that Channel 10 is using physical attractiveness as a major criteria for choosing their sideline interviewers. I've seen many posts here referring to the desirability of these ladies. It would be foolish to think that an experienced sports journalist like Deb Spillane would have a snowflakes chance in hell of getting the gig (or any male for that matter). It is clearly objectifying of the women involved but there doesn't seem to be any outcry about that. The fact it is endemic to TV is no excuse. If Sutherland insisted that CA's broadcaster dropped such transparently ***ist objectification his comments about Gayle being not cool might carry a bit more weight. If I tune in it will be to watch cricket, not for a perve so why are CA implicitly sanctioning 10's attempts to play up to perves? That ain't cool either Jimmy.

Pretty amazing the lengths the comms go to defend a bloke slightly in contention for Aussie teams. Bancroft butchers a simple run out and apparently it was a 'difficult take'.

Scorchers bowling was pretty good last night for the first 15 overs. The class of Mahela was enough to get the rate up to about 7.5 an over early on but Ludes struggled to get flowing, they bowl quite a few dot balls. Their batting seemed to be 2 out all out but they have Voges, M Marsh and NCN out of the side. Pretty good squad at 100%.

Spin against Hobart Hurricans in powerplay = wicket again. So predictable..

Paine is so horrendous against it.

This over from Boland has been terrific.

LOL at Tait blocking the hat-trick chance from the last ball of the innings, runs slowly and gets run-out.
